Wish I were you...or not. Planning a two weeks trip for next year, got the money for three but I doubt I'll have that much time to spend on vacation.
Osaka and then Tokyo, though I'd like to re-visit the area around Kyoto.

Same old for us, the girls go out start of school summer hols, I join them later & do the rice harvest we all come back together for start of term.

A month today and I'll be 3ish hours away from landing at Narita! Excited much!

Picked up my travel money yesterday which is when it really hit that I'm actually going back and should have a great time doing my own thing and enjoying more of what I want to do.

I'd gladly take an other trip during spring like I did the first time, though I'm aiming for September/October instead next year.
Thinking two weeks, Osaka and Tokyo, 5 days in Tokyo as I have already been there.
Any particular area near Osaka really worth visiting? What about the climate? How's September there? Hot, rainy, foggy? Not that hadn't had fun, but due to the rainy weather I spent 3 days in arcades when I was in Tokyo last year.

September should still be nice and hot, and low chance of rain. Aside from Kyoto, there's Himeji & Kobe (1 day) and Nara (1 day) that should be at the top of your list. Maybe a daytrip to Hiroshima and Miyajima, and could spend a day at Universal Studios Japan if you've never been to a Universal Studios before.

Low chance of rain? Erm, some years yes, but no guarantees. I found some Septembers to be 2 days of sun and 1 of rain. At least around Chiba/Tokyo.

September is typhoon season, we left for UK on 1st with one from Philippines just hitting, it made proper landfall on the 2nd and has so far claimed about fifty lives in Japan.

Mhmm, guess it will be October then...is it still rainy or the weather is dry but cold?

Still typhooney but September is the main month for them, other than that it's pretty much dry.

Was there a few years ago in October, had a typhoon but temps can still hit mid twenties. As you get into late October-November whilst it can still hit 20 degrees that's mainly between 1000-1400, after that you notice the a drop in heat.

With my luck with adverse weather conditions I'm sure I'll get two or three late typhoons, but it's within October or never, so I guess I'll aim for the two weeks in the middle of the month. Thanks for the advice.
