Can anybody recommend any good, romantic restaurants to visit in Tokyo? Cuisine doesn't particularly matter since the good lady and I aren't particularly fussy eaters.

The actual restaurant isn't particularly romantic but the Tonkatsu Wako on Odaiba (in the Aqua City shopping centre) looks out over the Rainbow Bridge and if you manage to get a table by the window while the sun sets and mainland Tokyo starts turning on all her Neon that looks incredible and my wife and I found it incredibly romantic. Once you've finished eating you can go for a walk along the water front which is incredibly romantic

There are a few restaurants around that area too so if tonkatsu isn't your thing (pork in panko breadcrumbs) then you could go to the Italian that was next door that looked pretty nice but was hella busy!!

A love hotel would surely be the icing on the cake. I like Odaiba, in fact I drove over Rainbow bridge today on the Shuto expressway, Daiba route. Amazing views out over the bay. If anyone is going to hire a car, head for the Hakone Skyline, a toll road in the mountains of, wait for it, Hakone. Utterly breathtaking views of Mt. Fuji on one side and Lake Ashi on the other. Biblical stuff.

How about an evening meal in Tokyo Tower?

I'm no expert on all things Tokyo, but on my last trip there for work, I went to the Shinagawa Prince hotel, and seemed to remember that they had a few nice places to eat there, and a bar near the top that had really nice views over Tokyo Bay.

From what I remember, it's quite a mad hotel in general, as it has an aquarium and an indoor Dolphin show as well..

There used to be a guide to akihabara that some kind soul wrote, including a map and suchlike for the area with the main stores we'd be interested in, in maybe this thread or similar. Defo somewhere on ntsc-uk .

I can't for the life of me find it, anyone else seen it around...?

I thought it'd probably be better to post this here rather than start a new topic elsewhere as it's kind of related to travelling to Japan. If it needs to be moved please let me know and I can start a new topic.

NHK World have a weekly program called "Tokyo Eye" which I have stumbled across whilst planning for my trip next year. It currently stands at 91 episodes. The basic formula is two segments by different presenters and then a third which is put on by a foreign resident of Tokyo, it's really quite interesting to see what is going on and is popular in Japan according to the NHK network. Trouble is I can only find a couple of complete episodes and then an extra few segments pulled from other episodes.

Does anybody know where I might be able to find older, complete episodes?

Does anybody else watch and like the series?

Has anybody been recording the series in preparation for the day when some random guy on a gaming forum asks if anybody has been recording it as he is desperate to see more episodes?

                Over to you.

That rings a bell. Was it by a dutch guy who was into his coin-ops?

                  *EDIT*

I think the poster was Akihabara, this is his site:

Good map, though Tokiwa Musen isn't on it.

Cool. It's not that far from where I'm staying either.

That was probably worse for you in Kansei than us in Kanto. But yesterday evening it was tipping it down here. And me with no umbrella...
