      Great news;

BBC, News, BBC News, news online, world, uk, international, foreign, british, online, service

Not sure if the fact BA had some flights coming into LHR from Asia and USA had something to do with it and the governments had was forced, I believe one flight diverted to CDG and others were holding over the Irish sea ready to go into SNN, which on the face of it looks crap and questions would probably be asked why have them divert to Paris and Shannon but they can't land in the UK.

Nakano Broadway is awesome!! We spent half a day there mooching around looking for awesome stuff.

Also took great delight in taking my friend Ben into a female doujinshi store just to freak him out. He didn't react at first by once he clicked what was on sale his face was priceless!!

Good news about the flights starting up again. Fingers crossed this is the start of the recovery period.

It spread all over an entire shopping centre and over several floors.
The Akihabara one is reasonably new I think.

Is that the place where you spotted my mgs psp?

Yep, that's the right shopping place, although that shop isn't part of Mandrake.

The Shibuya one is down loads of stairs - almost like it's in a basement! Hard to find too, so perhaps you are thinking of that one?

It would appear we did both. Spent ages with a mate trying to find the one down the stairs. Steve was kind enough to take us to the other one. Funny thing was I told him I`d spent the day in Aki trying to find a MGS ltd psp bundle and he spotted one in one of the shops in the arcade a few minutes later!

The one thats the collection of places above that arcade had some amazing things to see. One place was devoted to old school nintendo game and watch handhelds. I`ll post some pics when i find them.

Just found the website, and they have an English page too:

                      http://www.mandarake.co.jp/en/shop/

Does look like they're all over the shop. Might check out the Osaka one after I move over there until my (fingers crossed) rescheduled return flight on the 26th.

Good news for those of you stuck in Japan. JAL have started flying into Narita (one from Rome, one from Moscow) and things seem to be improving by the hour.

                        Safe journies home guys.

Been to the Shibuya and Akihabara Mandarake shops today. Planning to spend the next remaining days checking their available artbooks...and trying to stop myself from buying DeathSmiles resin models.

Yeah, it opened in 2008 IIRC. It's pretty good but I think the Shibuya one is better and the Nakano one best. Walking down INTO the Shibuya dungeon is definitely an experience, though; claustrophobes need not apply.

It's funny, I spent a day knocking around Nagoya and Osu Kannon in particular and never saw the Mandarake. There were a bunch of neat stores, though; it has much of the same kinds of shops as Akihabara but mixes in some more general-audience shops so's you can shop for souveniers to take back home at the same time.

After being told 5th May, I rang Virgin again yesterday and got bumped up to this Sunday. Only problem is they haven't updated my booking online. It still says 12 days left. They better update it soon, its still leaving doubt in my mind. I can't take much more of staying in a dorm with some Indian guy walking around in his undies.

Phew, back in the UK now just over a week late. Turned up at Centrair Airport and got on the waiting list once flights had resumed, and the first time a seat was left managed to get on the flight.

Urgently need sleep before back to work
