After the decent score and interesting draw, my mind wanders to the transfer window. Ins and outs?

    Ins I would like:
I am happy with most of the team and squad but feel there is some weakness on the flanks defensively. Arbeloa has played well but the cover there is a) better and b) a centre back! I would not mind a new RB but I guess that is supposed to be Degen. LB could be stronger but we have 3 LBs now so cannot see any new ones unless we get rid of someone (presumably Dossena).
I would really like to see a new RM but I cannot see Rafa getting rid of Kuyt (who, tbf, does a very good job on the right when he plays there). Someone with some more wingplay would be nice - rightfooted Riera or Babel maybe!
Up front, I think we needed a different type of player to Keane. I don't really like the guy but, anyway, he is not someone to change our style to break teams down imho.

I can't see many transfers in tbh.

    Outs:
I hope Pennant leaves - I think he needs regular football for himself and also I never thought he was that good. I wonder a little about Dossena, if offers came in from Italy, heads could be turned. Don't want many players to leave though and if any did, they would not bring much in.

Would like Dario Srna to come in, but this is the first transfer window in about 400 years that we haven't been linked with him, so it's not happening. Don't want Heskey, don't want Glen Johnson. We've only got about £6.58 to spend anyway.

I would be happy to bin Babel, he's just so annoying. I think he's miles behind Riera at the moment.
Pennant has obviously given up and has become a lost cause...

I agree on Babel, he has talent undoubtedly but he is just useless. He doesn't seem to have progressed at all since he arrived at Liverpool. Still the same old attempts of cutting inside and unleashing that shot of his, which rarely goes goalwards.

In fairness though I think maybe he should get a chance of actually playing up top, considering he is a striker. There again he does seem a bit lightweight for his stature. Ah well, at least he can rap.

Bloody hell, Pennant has now supposedly being offered a pre-contract by AC Milan. If signed, he could join them on a free come the summer.

Personally i think Pennant was always pretty good on the wing for you guys, he might not be a goal scorer but I'm sure he is credited with a fair few assists.

Someone who supports another team would say that!!

Pennant was never good enough - he gets a fair few assists i am sure but he gets the ball so often in good positions (usually from xabi) but his crossing is not aimed. He just seems to put it in the mixer. He looks good in stats i think but his cross completion %ge must be awful.

He played OK against Milan in the 07 final but he had the opportunity to do more - that game summed him up for me. Xabi released him endlessly and he never did quite enough.

There was a chunk of about 4 months where Pennant really looked like he might have finally screwed his head on the right way round and might actually make it at Liverpool...unfortunately it didn't last. If there were no issues with his lifestyle and attitude, he wouldn't be leaving IMO.

Good news on Xabi. His leg isn't broken as feared. He's had seven stitches for the injury against Preston. He was training with the lads yesterday, just some running and stuff. He could be available for the Stoke game providing he's kicking a ball okay.

I would not risk it for Stoke (who will try to hammer him i feel) but that is great news. I think Xabi will be important for the Everton epics.

Can't wait for the Stoke game Saturday evening, we'll hopefully be able to cut the deficit in goal difference to Chelsea as well as picking up three points.

I didnt think there was ever a suspected leg break for Xabi? Or did I miss reading that somewhere? I think Mascherano and Lucas will be the pairing for Stoke. They showed against Newcastle they can do exactly what'll be required on Saturday, I have confidence in both of them. If Lucas can start producing performances like he did against Newcastle regularly we should have excellent options in center mid.

Stoke is a massive opportunity this weekend to hopefully pull 2 more points away at least from Man U or Chelsea or both.

I think there was a lot of blood coming from his leg when it happened, so it looked worrying in that sense, but it was just a deep cut apparently. Mind you, the amount of crunching tackles (read:fouls) Xabi seems to have have been subjected to this season I'm surprised he hasn't had it broken! Let's hope I didn't just jinx that

Great to have have him back of course, but I think we might be able to rest him against Stoke.

Stoke game has got crap, windy, cold 0-0 written all over it.

Come on lads, a nice early goal leading to a rout please.

We must have the most expensive bench in the League today, Torres, Keane etc.
