Saw Djibril Cisse on Sly Sports News this morning, he's always loved the club and it wasn't that much of a surprise to hear him talking about Liverpool (again), and how much he'd love to return to the club

I remember him being really frustrating to watch in his final season with us, typical that he went on to play pretty well for Sunderland, and then into a goal-fest at Panathinaikos.

New manager plus the usual crap from the media basically means Liverpool have been linked with everybody.

The thing I'm most worrying about is Hodgson selling players like Lucas and Aquilani. There are others I cant think to name at the moment. Mascherano is the only player who should be sold, I think. Then if any others confirm a desire to leave, let them go.

I have faith that quite a few of the players left can improve and grow into very good players so I'd rather not see them leave.

Not too sure that Hodgson would sell Mash, Lucas & Aqua.

Mash looks like he'll be going, so leaving the latter 2 to rotate perhaps, dependent on opposition?

If he did sell one of the latter 2, surely it would be Lucas? Aqua, tho a different type of player, is far, far better than Lucas will ever be.

I have confidence in Lucas, last season when he was allowed to get forward in 2 or 3 games he actually looked like a completely different player.

He was, in those few games, Liverpool's best player. The problem being, of course, Gerrard, Lucas and Aquilani all prefer to play as a forward thinking midfielder. In the current climate two defensive players are required, which none of them are.

It'll be an interesting time anyhow. In my opinion Gerrard should be sold, he is now 30 years old and 20-25mil would be a good amount of money for a player of his age. Those were the reported fees Real Madrid were willing to pay.

With that money and the money from Mascherano you could find the holding midfielder required and maybe buy another decent striker or even look into other positions the squad is currently lacking in.

Would be very surprised if Hodgson has much, if any, say in who is sold or not.

Benayoun was sold before he arrived and it looks like Nemeth has also been sold. There have also been talks regarding the sales of Insua and Lucas and it doesn't look like he was involved in any of it.

Why haven't we been linked with any left-backs yet?

If Insua leaves (and it looks like he's going to) we've gone from having 3 left-backs who have all been selected for their national squads in the last year or so, to no left-backs at all. Genius.

Ridiculous to get rid of those two, even more ridiculous when you consider the squad depth....I like how the Insua deal was happening before RH got there even though there were no transfers officially being worked on.

Why Rafa stayed as long as he did I'll never know.

It's madness, our season kicks off in a couple of weeks with the Europa League nonsense and the squad is looking mighty thin in certain areas.

Be interesting to see who plays left-back in the friendly on Saturday, I don't think Insua will be risked in case he gets injured.

I thought there was a new hotshot youngster waiting in the wings to dazzle. Of course, he'd have to be the second choice with somebody senior doing the job.

Figueroa is a left back isn't he? He has been touted about as a Liverpool target for a long while. Aurelio is still available, get him back!

Other than that there is Chris Mavinga, although apparently more of a prospect in the middle than on the left of the defence.

Yeah I forgot about Figueroa - I like him from what I've seen actually, although reports in the papers were saying we were cooling our interest because Stoke were able to offer more money (lolz).

I think both Insua and Lucas could have a very good season, Insua's stats last year from assists and crosses was excellent and Lucas played very well at times.

Just get accustomed to the PL and then we potentially sell them #face palm#
