Word on the streets is that we're being linked with Wayne Bridge... I'm not too sure about this. Would he be a good replacement for Riise?

In his Southampton days he was top notch, certainly good enough to be England left back. His only problem is that Ashley Cole is probably THE best left back in the world and sharing a club and country with Cole stalled his career a bit.

I always liked Riise, shame to see him go, but Bridge is an adequate replacement although I see him going to Villa or Newcastle myself...

Is he hell. Clichy and Evra have shown themselves to be far better than him defensively and going forward.

Riise does not deserve another season. He's been gash for almost four seasons now.

I agree I don't think Cole has played anywhere near as well for Chelsea as he did at times when he was at Arsenal.

Don't know if anyone will have access to this, so I thought I'd post a link. AN interview between Torres and Reina. A good laugh!

By the way well in to Pepe for hopefully collecting his third consecutive Golden Gloves award. It's staggering to think that many don't view him to be one of the best two keepers in the league.

Thanks for the heads up, Paul. That was ace. My not-so-secret gay love for Fernando has risen even more

Torres has just nestled a special goal to beat RVN's record. Go on my son!

Congratulations to Torres. Thought the record set by Ruud the Dude was pretty special, so all credit the young Spaniard

It sounded it. Saving it for MOTD later

                              Just read
Xabi Alonso's time at Anfield appears to be coming to a close after Juventus opened talks with Liverpool with a view to signing the midfielder. The Juventus director Jean-Claude Blanc held discussions on Merseyside on Tuesday with Rafael Benítez and further talks are planned for next week.

Juventus are understood to be offering about £12m for Alonso, whom Benítez is willing to sacrifice as he pursues Aston Villa's Gareth Barry and looks to raise funds for further squad changes. Liverpool would like closer to £15m for the 26-year-old, who cost them £10.5m from Real Sociedad four years ago.
                              in the Manchester Guardian.

I hope it is not true - I cannot believe anybody would think of Alonso -> Barry as an upgrade as Sissoko-> Masch obviously was.

I personally think Alonso is too inconsistent. I don't really mind. Whenever I seen Barry play on the TV I've always thought he was really good. Alonso seems hit n miss .
