I bet any one of you who slated me then would take it now.
When you don't invest in a squad having finished 2nd, and you only provide funds to back fill it with players not as good as those who have left, it doesn't take a genius to work out we weren't going to do as well as we did in 2009. I am fully aware that there are plenty of delluded reds out there when it comes to expectations last season. Rafa himself had tiold people to manage their expectations going into that season. Doesn't make you frickin Einstien....

So lets get this right. You want to call me an idiot for calling you out as ill informed on Pepe Reina? it's only the last season or so, your armchair pundits and sky telly know alls have started giving him the plaudits he deserved. But that doesn't mean to say he wasn't doing it before then. Yes, he's made some errors in that, but none that overshadow how brilliant a goalkeeper he is. Less of the idiot / prick nonsense.

I must say Reina has just about been the best keeper in the Premier League for a good few seasons. Yes he has made a few high profile mistakes, but I cant honestly think of a keeper who hasn't made similar mistakes last season or the season before.

The problem with Liverpool is their lack of ability to reinvest the money they received from selling the likes of Alonso, Mascherano and Benayoun (there are others). That is obvious and something that doesn't need to be highlighted all the time in reality. Its just a shame that, as a Liverpool fan, I regularly read mass media bull**** about the bajillions Rafa spent. Those same reports never look at income, only spending.

I grow tired of having to type the same old rubbish but feel it needs to be said. The club is seriously under funded if it wants to compete with Chelsea, United, City, Arsenal and Spurs (the gunners has a massive wage bill for their youngsters, they may not pay much in fees but they pay enough in wages to them)

The club is badly run and its being borne out on the pitch. However, just to counter the Torres and Gerrard + the rest of the losers as some of you have pretty much put it.

Liverpool supplied more players to the World Cup than any other English club afaik. Its all well and good saying they're only Johnson, Jovanovic, Kuyt, Skrtel and so on but those are decent players. Whoever questioned Agger's quality seriously needs their head testing, he is amongst the best defenders in the country.

There is so much to say on the topic of Liverpool but I just havent got the ability to put it all down into a coherent post. The truth is there are a multitude of problems that are bigger than any manager, player or executive.

And how about stopping that load of nonsense too ?.

I bet there's lots of Liverpool fans that have only able to watch a LIVE game once or twice a year, How many LIVERPOOL fans 'here', are actually season ticket holders , rather than watch the games on SKY ?. Do you have to be a Man City inside to know the Club is awash with Money, or a Portsmouth insider to know the Club is *****d

You one the one minute slam the Press or any 'Non Liverpool' fan for being so wrong, knowing nothing, can't possible comment and just getting all the info from the gutter press. Only to post links to the Daily Mirror -about how much **** Liverpool are in (when people did try and make that point longer before the Column), and how all the fans need to act now based on Column post from the Mirror website ?

Maybe we all need to grow up a little bit

So then, Liverpool to finish lower than 7th this season?

            Comment

We'll see. We may only have 5points but I don't think many teams have had as hard a start as us. In just 5 games we have had City AND Utd away, we'd have beaten Arsenal if not for a freak last minute goal and no one has won at Birmingham for over a year now so a draw there is hardly a disaster. Sunderland and Blackpool at home up next, we should be winning those. If not then we really will be in trouble this season...

Is it really necessary to reference disabled children to make a point in a football thread? I wouldn't even bother to say but the grammar is wrong.

SharkSkin-Man, I do agree with you on most things in this thread and as a fellow Liverpool fan I share your frustration but that remark was over the top.

If you had bothered to make a comment like this in the first place rather than tell me I know nothing just because I didn't rate Reina then I would never have had to have a go. I do think he is a fantastic keeper now, I didn't around 18 months-2 years ago. I don't see how that can cause a problem. Discuss it, don't dismiss it.

I am not going to apologise for my outburst at you but I will to the rest of the posters in here and the Liverpool fans in general.

Sorry Liverpool fans, you aren't all pricks.

Yeah fair enough, that probably was a bit unnecessary.

Although Down's afflicted as a shortening of Down's syndrome afflicted is probably OK I would think? My English is incredibly poor mind you.

I don't think I will. I've been a match going red for 16 years, and I have found in that time that those whose analysis of what's going on at the club echoes that which you end up seeing in the papers or on the telly are the ones who don't go the game. They phone 606 and talksport and any other outlet that will listen to their 'opinion' which in turn has an undue influence on the perception of the club and the team.

You shouldn't get hung up about it, if you have your own mind and don't just regurigitate what you hear and read in the media, and are capable of balanced view, whether you're an armchair or not. If you can tick that box, don't get so hung up about it.

I must say, I've only been to anfield once in all the years I've followed the club. I do think, though, that I have a better outlook than most when it comes to the club and all its goings on.

I think the main thing for me is I watch nearly every televised game possible and read from as many sources possible, regardless of club or division. I read news about all prem clubs and a few lower league teams too.

It always puzzles me when people throw accusations around regarding not watching your team play in person. There must be a reason why they say it but I really can't put my finger on it.

Finally, I know tons of people who go and watch their teams regularly. They are some of the most ignorant fans I've come across. Especially the ones who only ever follow their team and nobody else.

As for Liverpool, this weekend should be interesting. I really hope ngog gets the reward for his goal scoring recently with a start. Woy really needs to push up and attack teams like sunderland, which means I'd like agger to start too.

I think a lot of people just accept what they are being told on Sky Sports and MOTD as truth.
You just have to look at some of the myths that have been propagated in recent seasons that were based on nonsense but were taken as gospel by some.

It's not exclusive of course, plenty of people can see through the ****e, but they are outnumbered many times over by the sheep. And of course, there are plenty who go the game who are clueless too.

In a general sense though, as long as you have a good spec, you see more of the game if you are there than you would on the TV imo. Things like team shape and especially players work off the ball are difficult to appreciate unless you can see the whole pitch.

I agree about seeing more of the games for sure, that's why I used to enjoy player cam from sky. Different options for camera angles are good, can't remember if sky still do them.

I think though, some players like babel and the likes don't need to be witnessed to know how **** they are. Watching a single game in isolation could lead to distorted views but seeing the entire season unfold I reckon I get as good a view as most people at the stadium. Especially considering I HAVE to watch Liverpool in quiet so I can concentrate.
