To be honest Inter are usually quite poor in the champions league so it was no shock for me or anything. Ac milan are the big CL team.

Great result, very happy but then, at the same time, a little frustrated. How can we beat this Inter team (who are very very good - don't believe the gob****es that say otherwise) yet be in this position?
The reason you seem to be in the position you are in to me is that he cant seem to get his head around the english game, which has far more variety to it and is far less defensive minded than somthing like the champions league... (well, in some cases)Last edited by rmoxon; 19-02-2008, 21:15.

Benitez clearly has problems in english comptitions, his increabley poor record against other big english club shows this, he has trouble dealing with fluent attacking football.Last edited by rmoxon; 19-02-2008, 21:23.

So in other words you dont know why you dont agree then?
And Gerrard IS ****, though I'm glad to see that he scored from open play today for the first time in about a year against someone other than luton town.....
He still dosent contribute enough for me though... course if liverpool fans are happy with him I don't know why i should complain.Last edited by rmoxon; 19-02-2008, 21:32.

rmoxon...
To say that the english game has more variety than serie A is ridiculous. The premiership is a very exciting "product" but time and again is found wanting tactically. For the amount of money flowing about, english clubs should really be dominating europe. They are not. All the so called great players in the premier have not performed in int'l competiton including in a lot of cases the champions league.
Benitez does find domestic consistency difficult and we find it difficult to deal with the big strong ball up front and have done for so many years. As badly as Liverpool have played, I don't think they have been truly outplayed once this season except possibly against arsenal.
Gerrard contributes in big games, to say he does not score against teams except those like Luton is to forget his whole career.

I was incredibly disappointed with Inter as they seemed to set out with the idea of getting a goalless draw, playing four at the back, two usual full-backs in midfield alongside a defensive midfielder and a solid central midfielder, and then two slow strikers up front.
Materazzi's sending off was ridiculous, especially considering some of the challenges the referee didn't even issue yellow cards for as the game went on and just served to make Inter even more defensive than before.
Having said that, Liverpool didn't look at all likely to score until Crouch came on and I can't help but feel that Kuyt getting a (deflected) goal masked the fact that he was again pretty much useless for the entire game.
Thank god he turned Spurs down to join Liverpool; we bought Berbatov instead and he has proved to be MUCH better value for money.
And finally, on that performance I see no more from Ibrahimovic than I have seen in the last few years when everyone has been bigging him up and I've been left scratching my head wondering why. If performing on the big occasion is the mark of a great player then he is miles away from earning such a distinction.

Originally posted by Malavon View PostIndeed, the way it took you 85 minutes to score against a 10 man team missing a central defender truly is class.
I don't know whether you know anything about football, but it can actually be a lot harder to play against a team with 10 men, especially when all 10 men just defend for the entire game. We were patient, and got our reward.
