we need to buy a qauility player not sell assets

This is something that I have heard mentioned a few times over the past couple of weeks. It is the only possible method in the short-term that I can see them making any profit at all on the entire venture.

I heard the rumour about Rooney today.

It seems ludicrous to me, but I bet his wife would fancy living in Spain or somewhere more exotic. I bet she'd like the bunce that came with it.

I dunno, Rooney is (imho) one of (if not THE) best players in the world...if he were foreign he'd be hailed as a God.

If United sell him, who do they have left in that squad of genuine class?

Nice 3-0 in the end after a difficult first half but played some good stuff in the second.

From what I saw (dodgy stream) Nani had a good game after a dodgy first 20 minutes and Diouf looked pretty tidy for his sub appearance too (and got a goal). Hope they both kick on from this.

Well another just over the line performance but a win is awin no matter how ya get it and fair paly to Burnley had there chances didnt take em and got punished in the end..Impressed with Diof today and took his goal well but while Chelsea win in style we stutter over the line but its all about those 3pts.

Proud of the Clarets today - thought 3-0 flattered Utd in the end and the last goal looked offside to me but it was already game over by then. Had we taken one of our clear chances at 0-0 it could have been different.

Still, many positives for Laws' first game in charge. Good luck to Utd for the rest of the season, hope the Prem League trophy stays in the North!

The anti Glazer chants coming from Tier 2 of the Stretty was class, as was the "Love United, Hate Glazer flag" that was placed on the scoreboard. Shame the stewards tried to spoil things.

I have to wonder about the point of those protests. If debt went away through protesting there would be a permenent crowd outside the barclaycard HQ.

It was the protests against the former shareholders which caused them to sell the shares at a low price (thus enabling the club to be bought with its own money), that helped cause the current situation.

The anti-Glazer lot clearly don't have that much of a grasp on reality though:

Anti-Glazer supporters' trusts have called on the Manchester United manager to stand down in protest at the American owners

                    Yeah, like he'll do that.

If their bond issue is fully taken up by lenders, the Glazers' takeover of Manchester United will already have cost £340m in cash

Bit alarmist. Can't see the Glazers getting many investors if they are going to asset strip. However if someone came along and offered £40m+ for Rooney, I think they'd sell.

Man City are going to have a fair bit of cash when they sell Robinho...

Why would they asset strip that just wont happen, i dont like all this, but they have backed fergie in his transfers so far, remember you get £750,000 for each champions league game win, so to sell any best players just wont happen fergie would just walk away, and like i said keep it mind the glazer family are still billionaires, they are not short of a few bob.

Right lets get this straight from the off...im in NO WAY A DEFEATEST..but having watched United all season long i know we are not playing very well at all,but still getting the jobs done in the league which is most important.

As for cup games this year well we didnt blow out pretty straight forward Champions League group away with some awful performances at home and off course we all know what happened in the Leeds game(which Leeds rightfully deserved)

That brings me to my point tonight that i think City have the beating of us over two legs simply because i feel they will want it that little bit more than United do due to the many years City have failed to win anything
                          .
I dont buy people say its because we will play a weaker team than City cos i believe any 11 United put out can give City a game home or away, its just that United as a whole look very short on confidence throught the whole team which as been evident in many previous games but saying that theres nout like a Manchester Derby to bring all that local pride to four and the juices flowing and with the Mancini/Tevez factor im expecting a right feisty game.

                          COME ON UNITED!!!!!

Strong team from United so any excuse City have played a stronger team is out the window..So no excuses know...

Man Utd: Van der Sar, Rafael Da Silva, Brown, Jonathan Evans, Evra, Anderson, Carrick, Fletcher, Valencia, Rooney, Giggs.
Subs: Kuszczak, Neville, Owen, Park, Scholes, Fabio Da Silva, Diouf.

Glazza, without wanting to state the obvious...would you say Nani is done as a Utd Player come summer?

i would say nani is off if there is a good offer as obertan i think is a good buy as he seems to be comfortable in a united shirt unlike nani.

i thought nani would be great at united but doesn't seem to have happened for him, must be this talk of him getting better now ronaldo has left.
