We all know Mr England John terry will still think he is in charge no matter who the manager is.

No beef with Hodgson having it after doing well taking his last 3 clubs to mid-table in the Prem.

What did Capello do wrong? I'm pretty sure his qualifying campaigns are some of the best ever and his World Cup was atrocious but so was the squad.

As for Hodgson, he will suit the England players because his style of management will help the cloggers who generally fill the squad. The lack of flair and creativity within the current league of English professionals is depressing.

I've seen a few tweets by journalists who seem fairly certain that the approach to Hodgson is definitely not a negotiating tactic and he's very much their number one choice. One said a deal could be wrapped up by Wednesday. I'd like that, it'd be nice for Spurs to go into the final few matches of the season without the "will he, won't he?" speculation around Harry.

Redknapp is far too mouthy and shady for the suits at the FA. Its always been the case I think. He is definitely the outstanding candidate if you're going for English managers but Hodgson is the safe, mediocre bet. At least the new manager will have the Euros as a bedding in period and can pretty much write it off.

Whoever it is should go for all out youth and begin a new era safe in the knowledge they have at least until the World Cup to build a new team.

Feel sorry for Redknapp but happy for Hodgson at the same time . Anyway harry you're better off where you are, England aren't good enough to win anything with the current players and its a poison chalice

Like that will happen, come the Euro's watch the players and the press make out England can and should win it outright .

                Mediocre is right.

It might be a blessing in disguise for Redknapp. Few managers do the England job, then do well somewhere else (the ironic exception being McClaren and his two spells at FC Twente).

Hodgson has a great record in getting average teams to over perform. England are a very average team.

I winced when I found out the news.

This isn't going to end well.

I don't see the issue. Hodgson is a sound manager and will do a good a job as any other candidate. Redknapp is also good but he is just flavour of the month at the moment.

Let's see how good Harry is when Tottenham lose Bale and Modric in the summer.

Poor Old Granny Hodgson. He'll never have the same backing as Bagpuss the Facking Fatbawl Managah, from all the Billy Big Bollocks players.

Well I'm prepared to give the lad a chance, wish him all the best.

He's got a decent track record apart from Liverpool which surprised me as I thought he would have done better.

Liverpool are doing brilliant without him.

Yes, 'cos they obviously did brilliantly with him...4 points near the relegation zone, cup defeat at home to Northampton Town, route-one football - form of champions-elect, clearly...

TBH, I'm just surprised he's daring to take responsibility for England before he's even actually started in the job. At Liverpool, none of it was ever his fault - certain individual players, the fans, Kenny, Rafa...they were all to blame at various points during his tenure for the on-pitch results and performances.

                                Funny, that.
