Anyone care about the match tonight?

I'll be watching, but only out a feeling of duty...

I wont even be watching. England friendlies became a non event a good while back for me.

As usual Rooney looks the only player who gives a **** about playing for England. If he were a few years older he'd be captain I reckon.

Walcott can't get a game for Arsenal yet walks into the national side. Both he and Upson have yet again proven why I say they are not international quality.

Defoe has had about 4 touches.

If Egypt weren't good enough to qualify, given how impressive they look, it doesn't bode well.

England have been pretty excellent in the second half, though.

Crouch yet again proves himself. Why isn't he first choice for Rooney's partner?

Milner should go to the world cup too.

I thought overall it was a decent game. Seems to me England fans seems to expect us to always take the lead, to beat all teams ranked outside the top ten by 4 goals and every player to be perfect all the time.

My only worry is Gerrard and Lampard on the pitch together just doesn't work. Some good performances tonight, the Upson stumble is just unlucky.

Only saw the first 30 min tonight but Lampard cannot cut it at this level in a 442, especially when Gerrard is playing narrow on the left. And I still have serious reservations about our goalkeeping situation.

Seems like a decent result overall, looking forward to catching the highlights later on.

Nice one Crouchy, I hope that Redknapp and the rest of the Spurs team were watching that: you don't need to hoof it to Crouch all the time, he's pretty good with the ball on the floor!

                        Well said!

Lampard and Gerrard never played well in that manner under McClaren, not sure why Capello thought they would yesterday. Gerrard plays lampard out of position and Lampard can't adjust, Gerrard gives the ball away and gives the other team lots of space to run through.

I agree that Lampard and Gerrard didn't work. No great fan of Barry particularly. I wouldn't mind seeing Carrick and Milner being given a run in the middle, Carrick for his distribution and Milner for his work rate and shooting ability. I'd like Downing to have more time on the left wing too.

I must say, what I've seen of Barry recently in an England shirt...I'm really not sure why he's in the starting eleven over someone like Carrick or Milner!

That said, I'm a huge fan of Milner, rate him very very highly indeed.

Downing (in my opinion) shouldn't even be called up, not international quality by a loooong way.

Personally my midfield four would be Wright-Phillips, Gerrard, Carrick, Milner, with Rooney and Crouch up top. Lampard and Lennon as super-subs.

Gerrard personally plays him out of position? Most of the time I've seen Gerrard and Lampard play together its Gerrard who gets moved by the manager. He is usually stuck somewhere unnatural to himself, so drifts more centrally. Its something that cant be helped.

Until the manager realises that they cant play together the better. Although I'm not entirely sure Gerrard or Lampard can play the kind of central midfield role England need. I'd say Gerrard is better capable of adapting though, so he would be a better choice.
