Yes, he puts the sh*ts up defenders with his raw physicality and he also hemorrhages free-kicks like nobody?s business, but he?ll also run through brick walls for the badge on his chest, he?s a damn-sight better in the air than most of his current international contemporaries and his (supposedly ungainly) touch and technique is both understated and massively underrated.
Take Bolton?s goal against West Brom at the weekend, there was nothing particularly complex about it but Davies? cushioned touch to play his strike-partner Johan Elmander in was exquisitely consummate in the truest sense of the words ? would you back a talentless extrovert like Nani to pull off the same pass successfully? You sure as sh*t wouldn?t my friend. You?d put your house on him lousing it up by attempting some kind of preening showboat monstrosity.

He's been consistent, probably more so than 95% of other top flight players and how many times have we seen him have a really bad game?

Totally agree and have been saying it for years. He is a superb striker and gives an all round performance up front.

Seeing as this has turned into a Kevin Davies love in I thought I would mention I went to Junior school with him. When I was in year 4 (year 6 and 5 as it is called today) he was in year 3. Even then everyone knew he was ace at football. When he was older he used to spend hours on the rubber pitCh near our house pinging long balls out to his older brother. No-one was surprised to hear that he had signed for Chesterfield. His is (was) a Sheffield United fan though so that obviously counts against him.

Rooney started the second half the way he played the first.

He needs to be taken off. Hey may somehow score but so might anyone in the team. Other players won't be a liability the way he is at the moment though.
