So how come another defender we've never heard of, but comes from liverpool gets drafted in. Ryan Shawcross at Stoke has played well all season, why not give him a chance or probably others that i've missed out on. Hodgson is pissing me off already

Shawcross would fit well in with the long ball style of this current england setup too.

Then again, in world/euro tournament football maybe his old fashioned style of tackling/defending would land him in trouble before too long.

I do like milner, but he isnt a winger, never in a million years....he works well in midfield(Especially when at villa), a bit like a toned down parker.

they gave Gerrard the man of the match but I can't remember him making one good pass in the game.

Gerrard won motm because he was like a tank in the middle, and made countless challenges breaking up belguims tricky midfield.....maybe him and parker together was too much, i much prefer gerrard further forward, but then, we didnt get that far forward for the most part.

Cahill is out now with a broken jaw Martin Kelly drafted in over Ferdinand who is out simply beacause of John Terry racial abuseing his brother but thats another discussion all together, players dropping like flies in an already very poor England squad couldnt see us getting out of the group before the Euros even with a full squad but certainly cant see that happening now looks like another miserable failed embarassing tournament for us English to bare once again me thinks.

I'd have to agree. England will have overachieved considerably if they get out of their group at Euro 2012.

I agree. I do like Kelly, promising player but Richards is class now.

As a Liverpool fan, I don't think I can remember the last time Kelly play his original position as centre back for us. So yeah, a little strange. Great as a RB though.

As a biased Spurs fan I would have chosen Kyle Walker for RB. He's a better defender than Johnson and can go forward with pace too.

He has ok games, nothing against the lad, but he is way overrated.

Richards can double up as a bloody good defender too, as well as being way more threatening going forward.

Sorry, that's laughable.

Please let's not try to re-write history with Micah Richards. He's great going forward, but he is NOTHING like a remotely good defender. Dreadful positioning.
