City were good defensive as though. Jeez were they playing away! 3 sitting midfielders n you have AJ on the bench. They need to address this I feel.

We missed Lamps badly and a bit of Kalou/Benayoun would not have been bad but both injured. Ramires looked all too much like, the light weight Brazilian I thought he was against Kompany and De Jong. He looked k in the previous games though. I thought McEachran (was a job finding that spelling) used his commentator quote "velvet left foot" rather well.

Lampard is going to miss the champions league and arsenal games. That's a pretty major blow.

Hoping at least we get Kalou fit to give us some options up front. Don't want to see Kakuta, McEachran/Ramires and Sturridge on the pitch together for a long time.

        Have faith in Ramires.

I know he'll take time but he was such a huge liability against Man City, we can't simply afford to give the ball away that much.

Not expecting a terribly good game tonight given our injuries and how teams generally play away in the Champions League.

We need to go out and show we're not in a slump though

Pleased with that first half, nice fluid movement, Marseille rarely looked threatening.

Kakuta was having a better game although when all the balls started coming down the left it kinda took him out of the game a bit.

not a great second half but we got the result

Excellent that Man U dropped yet more points, we just need to make the most of it and get 3 against arsenal.

                    6 in a row!

Reasonable first half, could've gone either way but I'm obviously glad we're in front. Ramieres is playing much much better. Drogba continues to torment Arsenal.

                    *edit*

                    2-0! Great result.

Absolutely stunning free kick from Alex. Not entirely sure why Sky were saying how unlucky Arsenal were and how they were clearly the better side. Arsenal rarely looked dangerous, Chelsea had 4 or 5 chances outside of the goals that could easily gone in.

Arsenal v chelsea games getting like watching footy on UK Gold now, safe to say a pattern emerged, thought Chelsea value for the win as despite all our huffing and puffing we never really got in and as a contest was a bit like watching a midget being held off by a big bloke with long arms.

Stunning free kick from Alex and at least flappyhanski not scarred by more howlers

I'd agree, Chelsea, to my eyes...looked comfortable.

Can't see many teams challenging them for the league at this stage.

Is correct. Only 7 games in, and it already looks like Chelsea's title to lose.

Still way too early, as I've said a few times, we were looking unstoppable just before xmas last year only to have a month of awful form. Went from miles ahead to something like 5 behind Man U.

We've got almost all of the tough away games to play, we haven't played a game where we need to grind out a result yet (unless you include Man City). If Terry and Alex get injured at the same time, our defence will be appauling. Although there's not a player in the world I'd swap Drogba for at the moment, he's still prone to games where he gets frustrated and is ineffectual.

Our squad for the future is looking very promising though. Sturridge and Kakuta both have potential, Ramieres is still too sloppy in possession but he's noticably adapting and he was important today (put in the challenge that led to the goal). Replacing/covering Drogba, Terry and Lampard isn't going to be easy though.

Yeah I agree, way to early at the moment. Sure Man Utd will start to hit form soon.

Benayoun is out for six months.
