We can miss our back Van der Wiel, he is defensively weak despite being good on offense. I reckon Boulahrouz will play, which means more focus on defense on that wing. On the plus side, our main CB Mathijsen will likely be back into the squad.

For De Jong, we can replace him with De Zeeuw. Same kind of player, but less dirty regarding tackles and quite an annoying smart bugger on the field (a lot like Van Bommel).
i was worried yesterday when Mathijsen went off injured before the game, defo need him back for the semi. i never thought much of boulahrouz, too dodgy and always going in with harsh challenges.

with de jong out would they not think of bringing in afellay or van der vaart or maybe that would unbalance the squad a little?

Van Marwijk isn't the coach who will turn his squad upside down. He doesn't even try it without a poor playing Van Persie.

Afellay is for the right side on midfield, but could play as a DM too. For that role however, Demy de Zeeuw has an edge. Van der Vaart fails on the left side (always moving towards the centre) and is a replacement for Sneijder. But who would bench Sneijder atm? Real Madrid maybe

Half time - Germany 1up against Argentina ! Desrevedly so too. They're playing a very good quick passing game, letting Argentina have the ball in their half. Argentina, take to long to build up playing and look for Messi too much. They also are showing signs of lossing it a bit, because they're behind. Wonder if they go two down will they act like Brazil yesterday ?

Argentina are acting like little children at the moment. Gotta love the handball given against Argentina when Messi was the one who used his arms to control the ball (German player had the arms by his side) and the other Argentinian players were waving imaginary cards.

When Germans come across as more likable than you, you've got issues.

More biased commentary too. Can understand bias in England games but you'd think they'd be neutral in games that actually are neutral.

Really opening up this game now. Germany still look to be in control though with their defending excellent but i wouldn't bet against an Argy goal.

Only trouble the Argies have is by going forward looking for an equaliser, they are going to be suspect to the break and a second Germany goal will end it. I actually don't know who i want to win. I like the Argies attacking flair but there is something really admirable about this young German team. They are proving a lot of people wrong.

Argentina is just ****. Their defense and goalie are and were pathetic. All Germany has to do is man marking Messi.

Germany are impressive, but they haven't met their real challenge yet. A struggling England kept with them in the first half and this pathetic Argentina just isn't up to snuff. Was even surprised that they won all 3 group games.

I know they are Germany, but come on, whats not to like or admire here. They are awesome.

Most of us last week posted that the Argies achilles heel was their defense and that if Germany got at them they would cause problems and they have. The argies only chance was to keep them on the back foot with their attcking flair, but when they are up against a good defensive unit who can also attack at speed. What can they do?

Only seen about the last 20 minutes but the German's are impressive, they'd give anyone a game.

Germany have been very entertaining in this world cup, wouldn't mind at all if they went on to win the whole thing. They've been fantastic to watch today.

Hold on a minute. All of a sudden Argentina are ****? Seriously?! That is a ridiculous statement.

Sure, they haven't been at their best today but some credit must go to Germany for that. They have been fantastic, superb even. To think, Ozil hasn't even really been in the game and Germany are 3-0 up.

                                wow, just wow.

German side = best counter attacking team of WC2010

4-1 loss doesn't seem that bad now (considering our shambles of a national team)
