Chris Hughton sacked by Newcastle. Seems strange to me, they may have had a couple of bad results recently but they've also had some excellent results before that and are 11th in the table.

Football these days... crazy stuff. He gets them promoted as champions and has them sat in mid-table, do they really think they should be doing much better that that? He should come back to Spurs as a coach, I'm sure Harry can find a place for him in our big coaching team of ex-players

Not a great reward for someone who got them promoted so convincingly and has them looking good to comfortably stay up.

They've been dicking him around for ages though, stalling over contract talks etc...

Clearly they decided they didn't want him as manager ages ago, and I guess they were waiting for some excuse to ditch him. Seems to me like he's been fairly harshly treated. Can't imagine the fans will be happy with the decision either.

I guess we're going to see a very rapid appointment, you'd have to be a bit of a mug to step into that role if promotion then mid table security isn't deemed good enough...

Ridiculous decision. If they were 5 points adrift at the bottom then I could see the reasoning, but mid-table in their first season back? Especially in such a competitive league is decent enough.

Martin Jol has quit Ajax. If he's not going to Newcastle then it's amazingly coincidental timing. Maybe Mike Ashley decided to upgrade from an ex-Spurs assistant manager to an ex-Spurs actual manager

Jol didnt exactly like the board messing him about at Spurs, I can only imagine he won't last long at Newcastle.

The decision to sack Hughton is abysmal. He steered them straight to promotion after Shearers short stint and has turned them into solid mid-tablers this season. No small feat in this league.

Yes they have lost a few, but they have also won a few and a stable season this year could have seen them kick on next year and progress. I can understand why the fans and players are pissed off as they are now into their 13th manager in as many years and Hughton had been doing a sterling job amidst no transfer money and chaos in the background.

I don't know if Newcastle have an inflated view of themselves and believe they are bigger than they actually are but i hope that fat useless twat Ashley gets what he deserves and they now crash and burn straight back into the championship
