They should replace the Newcastle badge with a self destruct button or fail boat.

Alan Pardew set to be new Newcastle manager

Alan Pardew is set to be named as the new Newcastle manager within the next 24 hours, BBC Sport understands.

The former Reading, West Ham, Charlton and Southampton boss was among the favourites to take over from Chris Hughton, who was sacked on Monday.

Hughton led Newcastle back into the top flight last season but following his dismissal, the club said it wanted someone "with more experience".

Pardew, 49, has been out of work since being sacked by Southampton in August.

BBC Sport understands that Pardew was in talks with Newcastle about taking over at St James' Park as long as 10 days ago.

It is believed Pardew became close friends with Newcastle owner Mike Ashley and director Derek Llambias when all three were familiar faces at an exclusive London casino where Llambias was managing director.

Pardew has more experience in the Championship/League 1. It’s a side step at best, at worst (given his recent record) a step back.

LOL, i heard the news this morning

All the geordies expecting a big name manager to come in as a replacement are going to feel very aggrieved now. I agree its a definate sideways step but will more than likely be a backwards one and send them tailspinning.

To sack a more than capable manager already in place to replace him with a very average championship manager beggars belief. The players won't like it anymore than the fans and i fell sorry for them that they have a complete inbecile in charge there. Is he purposely trying to run them into the ground??

Part of me wants to see Newcastle go down now, because you don't want any reward to go to people that act like Mike Ashley. The Newcastle fans don't deserve to be punished for having a complete twat of a chairman though.

          This is tremendous!

Almost as bad as our Howard Wilkinson appointment. Although, at least he'd won the league years ago, and we were sitting pretty at the bottom of the table, so his appointment was a desperate throw of the dice for Bob Murray before inevitable relegation.

The Mags have replaced an inexperienced guy in 11th with an career failure. A real glitterball signing to move them on a bit!

It couldn't have turned out any more lolsome.

I was personally hoping for the comedy of another Keegan stint!

So funny ... so very, very funny.

I've never heard this clip before from last year, posted on smb recently. Some random Mag rings up Talksport to 'chat' about about Fatty Micky Quinn.

If he gets like that about the 'glory days' of the late 80s/early 90s, then he must be cowering in a corner after today's news, rocking in the fetal position.

Tevez has handed in a transfer request. LOL.

Wonder how much is wanting to leave England and how much is wanting champions league football...

Anyone watch the post match stuff for the Newcastle game? None of the players interviewed gave Pardew their backing or even acknowledged his part in the result. Lollersome.

                        Haha!

It's all going off at City. In addition to that news, Balotelli (unsurprisingly) threw another one of his tantrums yesterday. Brian Kidd said there were no problems with the lad. LOL. If Mourinho struggled to tame Balotelli during his time at Inter, then City haven't a hope in hell of doing any better.

To be fair Mourinho isn't a manager who tames players. He's a cash manager. Had the cash at Chelsea, Inter and now Madrid. When there is a problem, he throws cash at it. Apart from Santon at Inter, I can't recall him ever bringing young players through at Chelsea or Inter.

Only reason Mourinho kept Balotelli that long was because the president wanted to keep him. Otherwise he would have been out the door. Once last season he said he supported AC Milan, they had to sell him.

Mourinho didn't have all that much cash at Porto, and they did quite alright.

Balotelli is talanted player but his frequent tantrums are never good for team spirit. He is at the right club now xD

That Porto team had a lot of decent players. Plus against Man Utd that season they won the European cup, they got massive help from the assistant referee who signalled a genuine goal from Scholes, offside. And Tim Howard made an awful error. And a lot of the Euro powerhouses during that season were rebuilding, Chelsea just got the money, Barca missed out on the champions league, Madrid got knocked out.

Mourinho is a great tactician, but when it comes to dealing with players he can be pretty poor. He doesn't have a history of bringing young players through. Canales who Madrid brought hasn't even been given a look.
