Wolves have sacked Mick McCarthy. Not sure who they'll get in that would do much of a better job.

I can't understand it.... after a 5-1 derby defeat, surely it's only correct to give the manager another year in the job??
Poor old MicMac, I've a lot of time for him, but his managerial standard seems to be too good for the Championship, but not quite good enough for the Prem. He's a good promoter of teams; I hope he gets snapped up by someone.

1) It wasn't a red card in a million years. Huth tried to pull out. Yellow card tops.
2) It's Stoke, so tough ****.
Tony "We are Stoke, we don't complain" Pulis is now going on and on about Meyler, saying that he feigned injury, the PFA should sort it out, etc. What a bell-end. The fool's own still photo sent to MOTD showed Huth's knee taking out Meyler's foot, causing him to ragdoll into the air. Meyler has just returned from two consecutive serious knee injuries. He didn't writhe around in agony. If he stayed down, it was because he was genuinely caught, not because he was trying to get the man sent off. Maybe, Tony, just maybe, if you didn't encourage your foul, yobbish team to go in with studs, elbows and knees every game, you'd get more sympathy. This particular challenge was a poor one to dish out a red, but it's been inevitable for a player like Huth. Furthermore, that knacker Probert cost us the game last year with two appalling decisions based around Huth, offsides and free kicks. So that's evens now.
In other news, it's interesting to see Mag Johnson practically admit on MOTD that he dived to win the penalty for Man City. Indeed, he did. He flung his leg out at an angle to catch Baird, who was miles away, and went down like a sack of ****. Did the MOTD pundits attack his clear guilt? No, they fawned around him like the Billy Big Bollock Big Team creepos they are. Yet, a few weeks ago they (rightly) slagged off Larsson for diving to win a penalty at Wolves. Morons.
Maybe you should watch some of the appaling decisions that have gone stokes way this season. The huth red wasnt a red, simple, and no amount of hot air will change that. I personally think stoke are a good side that work hard. If most teams were as commited with the players they have they would be fighting for top spot.
I'd be more angry at newcastle for the absolute smashing they gave you this season mind.

Think Mick had lost his direction, they had done ok during their prem stay with the 4-5-1, plus had some nice play and results pairing Doyle & Fletcher, though was generally risky..........adding Ebanks-Blake at the weekend was foolish and showed, imo, that Mick didn't know what he was doing anymore.

Results have been ****e though, so I can see why they sacked him, but as I said before, is there anyone out there who they could get that would be more likely to keep them up than Mick? Bruce? Warnock?

I think McCarthy may have lost his effectiveness in the dressing room. In the last few months he has had to step out after games and explain the side's poor performance and lack of fight. Once that happens to a team like Wolves I think there is only one result and thats relegation. Its the perceived effort from the team that is the problem, I think.
As for someone to replace him, I would say the best manager outside of the Prem right now has to be Chris Hughton. That guy was brilliant with Newcastle despite everything against him and also has done surprisingly well with Birmingham considering their financial constraints.
In fact, if Redknapp does go and Spurs are looking for a young up and coming manager Hughton ticks all of the boxes. Someone needs to snap him up and see if he can take the next step up and manage a team with aspirations higher than survival in the Premier League.

I'm in risk adverse mode at the moment. After putting up with many shoddy Spurs sides over the years it has been fantastic to finally have a team competing at the right end of the table for (most of) the past 6-7 years. So I'm leaning towards wanting a more experienced manager with lots of top flight & Champions League experience under their belt to take over, if Harry does indeed leave. More of a risk giving a chance to a young up and coming manager, imho.
fallenangle mentioned Chris Hughton in the Spurs thread as well though, so if we were going down the route of giving a young manager a chance he's definitely a strong contender. What he did at Newcastle was very good, and I think if he brings Birmingham up that would be an even bigger achievement. Well liked ex-Spurs player and has been assistant manager here before as well, so no problems with being accepted by the fans.
Like I said though, I just worry about the size of the step up: promotion / Prem survival to a team who are now competing for a CL spot each year and an outside bet for the title. Not sure if I want Spurs to be the team to test how well a young manager would handle that leap.
Still, who knows what will end up working? Santini and Ramos had trophy winning pedigree and lots of experience and it went tits up for them. Our best manager until Harry came along was Jol, who had only previously managed mid-level clubs in Holland.

What does this mean? Maybe I should watch some of the appalling decisions that have gone Stoke's way? You surely mean, against Stoke? Disclaimer - banter.

Did you even read that bit? You're arguing against an imaginary post, hot air or not. Pulis' comments to the press about a player's integrity were bang out of order. That was the focus of ire. Thought that was apparent?
That was last season.
Fair play if thats all it is though...i dont support stoke but i have family who do, and i just respect them. I think after the appaling crap shawcross got thrown at him over the ramsey incedent, they are just an easy target.
Never mind if i were a long term black cats fan i'd be full of bitte...i mean banter - BANTER.
