Apparently you can get up to 6 months for ?6 though there are reports that it varies from person to person, although if you leave it an hour or two you can apparently keep going, up to the 6 months. I managed 4 months for ?4 without any hassle

You can remove your cc details online. It's under my xbox > accounts > account information - manage payment options > remove.

MS have made it much easier to find than it used to be.

Don't bother clicking on "Done"- just go back a few pages and restart the process and you'll see your Gold expiration date increase by a month each time.
