FZero GX Review - Nintendo Gamecube
When Nintendo announced that several of their key franchises would be handed out to third-party developers for their Gamecube iterations, a large proportion of fans were naturally worried that they would not be able to live up to the standards previously delivered. So far, these fears have not been justified, with Retro Studios producing an impeccable first-person version of Metroid and Namco developing a potentially interesting new take on the Starfox heritage. Lodged firmly between these two comes...

Infernal: Hell's Vengeance Review Microsoft Xbox360
Infernal: Hell's Vengeance is a straight port of the PC third person shooter, with a newly added moniker, that sets players slap-bang in the middle of a battle between heaven and hell, as they fight their way through its five long levels. You take on the role of Ryan Reynolds lookalike Ryan Lennox (yes he even shares the same first name), a disgraced agent for heaven's Etherlight organisation, and former angel, who has been cast out and is now living his life amongst mortals. When Etherlight places...

Wolfenstein: The New Order Review - Xbox One
Everyone loves Nazis right (well apart from your Nan, who was probably bombed by them, but I digress)? In videogames I mean. The go-to bad guys who instinctively raise the hackles of people, none more so than the average gamer who is almost trained to point a weapon at their heads. For a time they were ubiquitous in gaming, but most recently have been replaced by anyone vaguely Middle Eastern in appearance as the bad guy of recent times. But Machine Games looks to bring us back to blowing away vast...

Hotline Miami Review - PC
Hotline Miami is a top down, 2D shooter-come-melee game that overflows with style and ambience. Wrapped in an 80’s inspired pseudo-retro world, the game is filled with neon lighting, whirling electronic soundscapes and moments of extreme violence that combine the aesthetic with the disturbing.
One of the most stand-out features is the AI system. Admittedly the enemies' ability to detect the player is relatively basic, either through direct line of sight or the sound of a gunshot, which... -

Initial D: Special Stage Review - Sony PS2
Whether it's arcade or simulation, circuit or off road, it seems that every possible form of four-wheeled entertainment has been covered on the current crop of consoles. So, in this saturated market, what does Initial D Special Stage - the latest game from Sega Rosso - bring to the party that's fresh and new? Well, to start with it's based on one of the most popular Japanese manga and anime series of the 90's and secondly it's all about head-to-head street racing along the most insanely contorted...

Winning Eleven 6 Final Evolution Review - Nintendo Gamecube
If you're a football obsessive, Winning Eleven 6 - Final Evolution (WE6 FE) is the game for you - it really is as simple as that.
What makes the Winning Eleven series truly stand out from other football games is the fact that it portrays the beautiful game, and its nuances better and more realistically than any other game on the market. Where this series of games really stands out from other football games is that the series has consistently remained very freeform in the scope it gives... -

Lost Planet: Extreme Condition Review - Microsoft Xbox360
Lost Planet depicts a hostile ice world which has been ear-marked for colonization due to Earth becoming so badly polluted. Unfortunately, this planet is home to the Akrid, a race of insect-like life forms that don't take too kindly to the invaders rolling in to town. The story finds the game's main protagonist, Wayne, looking to avenge his father’s death, but ends up embroiled in a wider plot for the planets future through the eleven missions that make up the single player game. These involve...

Gitaroo Man Lives! Review - Sony PSP
During the early days of the Japanese PS2, a game called Gitaroo-Man surfaced from little-known developer INIS. A rhythm-action title casting the player in the role of a guitar-wielding superhero out to save the world, it captivated gamers with its looks and gameplay, but it was a tricky beast. Giving even the most agile gamer sleepless nights thinking of how to get past a certain stage, even on the lowest difficulty setting it could present a formidable challenge. Over time, the game has grown...

Motorstorm Review - Sony PS3
Much was made of the target renders of the now infamous E3 2005 when the likes of Motorstorm were paraded in front of the world's media by Sony. Now we have the chance to judge for ourselves as it is finally unleashed on PlayStation 3. Taking place in a fictional desert, the premise of Motorstorm is of a giant dirt-racing festival featuring a variety of vehicles with which to fight your way to the finish. What sets it apart from what could've been a generic racer are some truly state of the art ...

Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan review - Nintendo DS
Take control of a team of male cheerleaders as you endeavour to help people with their day-to-day problems through the medium of rhythm and song. A tagline like that isn't really going to win many impulse buyers over, but there's really no other way to describe it. It's another case of Japanese craziness that has to be experienced to be appreciated. It was later released in the West as "Elite Beat Agents".
For this little gem, Nintendo turned to Inis for development. It's not a name that ... -
