You are being stupid regards the Live issues. 1: I didn't see these issues last night but I accept that they must have existed, and 2: Even when you log into a Live game that isn't EA a large number of the servers are not managed by microsoft but are managed by the third parties who make the games. The EA part is simply the login and authentication.

Neil, most of us couldn't care less about the various investments that have gone into the server-side this and thats of the game. The fact is that we play the game online, we encounter a barrel-load of problems between races and we comment on them.

So you manage to avoid all these problems and enjoy an utterly hassle free experience - lucky you. Don't go telling all these people that they're being 'stupid' for having to endure something you, apparently, haven't.

If you actually read what I had wrote you you'd see that I said that people were stupid for posting about who they think manage the Live servers. Microsoft do not do it all. This game is no different to others. So please post the facts not the fiction.

Isn't the third party responsible for the game now owned by EA anyway?

EA pride themselves on making solid, easy to use, crash free entertainment for the masses. The game crashes when you get booted and try to re-connect. Slap me if I'm wrong, but that's a pretty nasty A bug right there. A lot of people won't understand the technical details behind these problems and complain to EA regardless.

It's obvious it wasn't tested to the extent of the load they've had since the games release...

Hope they get on it ASAP.

Lyrical - agreed but its quite hard to do decent load testing of this type.

Why won't my custom soundtracks work? I've ftp'd my musics to the Music folder on E:\ and yet the game refuses to see them when I go into EA TRAXXX and press X.

                This will not do.

True, but they do employ a hell of a lot of testers during crunch times at their various locations. Maybe this would've been a good candidate for public beta testing in the earlier stages of development.

Also, I suppose they could've underestimated the demand for the online portion of the game.. but that doesn't sound like the EA I know

Didnt manage to get one good game at all last night, every time I finished a race it booted me back to the lobby, or even better told me I couldn't connect to Xbox Live.

At least it should be fixed soon.

I don't know if it's been mentioned yet but the reason so many games are greyed out is that you can't join a game when a race is in progress, so most of the ones that aren't highlighted are just races in progress.

I prefer that as I used to hate joining games on PGR2 and Toca and having to wait until the current race was finished.

Chad - did you convert the music files to the xbox format?

Ah. No. I thought it'd play vanilla MP3's

I'll find some kind of convertor! Does it have to be WMA or something?

Neil - most of the problems people experience are when signing into EA servers - updating rankings ... which kinda tells me (as an impartial observer) that the problem lies in the EA servers.

Plus why EA forces you to hunt out lobbies (notice you can't join a friends game if he is in a different lobby to your own, comes up as room unknown if you try), the 50/60hz probs (first Live game to have this problem iirc - XboxConnect games have it but no Live games), the crashes if you move from one menu to another for no reason at all - it all adds up

please EA, bring out an update which sorts all these problems out - i can live with the 50/60hz probs since most of my friends list play 60hz anyways - but the others need sorting quick stylee

Still doesn't work even with WMA. Music volume's going all the way down... better to have just Sounds effects than listen to that ****e

Chad, Ive uploaded the apps I use to convert MP3 to WMA and also upload it to my Xbox. I use DB Power amp and Xbox Sound Manager, and download them here http://www.ntsc-uk.com/xbox.rar - Im uploading them now so give it 20 mins or so from the time of this post before downloading.

Been on it first thing this morning for around an hour and it didn`t even kick me out once and it was really quick at going back into a lobby after a race. Then again there was not many games going on which probably accounted for why it so good for me, where last nite it was totally packed and by the look of it the servers couldn`t handle it perhaps?
