If you fail a mission everything resets, so you can redo it again by reaching the start point. When the game gives you back control you should get the Skip Trip option, but only if you've already attempted the mission. If you fail a mission and then reload the savegame you won't get this option.

I'm pretty sure I get the option often, though that's not to say I keep failing missions :/

I love the dirt bike, but unfortunately I've only had it for one mission, can't find any more

Oh, and I've only found one or two Insane Jumps - am I just blind?

No. The game is so huge I'm finding it tricky to complete many. To be honest, I'm tempted to pick the official strategy guide once I've finished the main storyline so I can track down all the little elements without taking years.

My CJ has green trousers, green Cons style trainers, white t-shirt with green sleeves, African shaped necklace, dody tash and afro. Oh and a couple of tatoos on his upper arms.

I'm currently driving a modded white sports car (forgot the make but it looks damn cool) with a 5x turbo . Am I correct in assuming that garages in the other cities offer different types of mods to the ones in Los Santos?

          Spoiler re military vehicles:

Yes it is possible to jack fighter planes/helicopters. For the planes you get machine gun fire and homing rockets

Spoiler about later on method of transport (quite big):
Eventually you can access the jetpack which will then then allow you to fly around very easily (and shoot at the same time).

My man CJ has a groove cut, an eyepatch, a black tank top, red jeans, dogtags and a pink watch. He used to be sculpted like a Greek god too but his shrieking harpy of a girlfriend demanded he pile on some flab. In any case, he's still the baddest mofo' this side of Liberty. As for transport, I just use motorbikes now - superfast, wonderfully controllable plus you can shoot the bastards right in front of you.

            Good things pt 1387:
Keeping level with a tanker truck on the freeway while Cesar tries to leap on and hijack it - nervewracking but ace.

            Bad things pt 10:
That sodding bastard RC Red Baron mission. Just getting it to fly in a straight line without hitting everything was an achievement, nevermind destroying 5 couriers and flying back to base before the fuel runs out. Grrrrrrr.

Is there no digital control at all? entirely dual stick based horror?

Isn't it sad how even virtual women dictate our virtual lives!

Good point 5897: I just witnessed some brilliant (and surprising) AI. I was in a hicktown on the way to Catalina's when I shot two rednecks off their motorbike. I got on, and one of them decided to get on the back with me on the way to where I had to go. When I jumped off the bike, the hick then decides to take his bike back and drive off the way we came.

                  Superb.

Bad Point 7: In the space of 35 hours the game crashed on me for the first time.

                  Thankfully, I'm a regular saver.

There is truly not enough time in the day for this game & a job.

She's hilarious and puts all of the other 'available' girlfriends well into touch. Best character so far in the game.

Catalina deserves her own GTA adventure in the future.

Spoiler: Pity she gets killed in GTA III though.

"You better hope I don't make testicle kebabs when you arrive."

                          Greatet videogame line ever.

Your partners in this are fantastic, given the horrors you'd suffer in previous games where they'd stay in burning cars and suchlike. Doing the bank robbery with Catalina, we stole one of the police 4x4s are floored it. She gave as good as she got, shooting at the small army of chasing cops behind but one of the bike ones got a lucky shot and we lost a tyre, causing me to lost control and flip the car. I crawled out and legged it thinking it was mission over but so did she, sprinting away from the soon to explode vehicle. She then started blasting away the cops, including one behind me that almost killed me before bitching about my driving skills and general sub-standard degree of manliness.

I *heart* Catalina, I was gutted when she left (with that ever-so-slightly familiar looking guy...she was clearly too good for him, I see that now)

Another thing - Vice City seems so flat and lifeless in comparison with either of the cities I've seen so far.

Are the girlfriends all plot-driven then? I've taken Denise out on a few dates but there doesn't seem to be much point in it - I'm tempted to shoot her in the face to be perfectly honest.
