That starting violin on the title screen sends a shiver up my spine - its so heavy and makes you feel like its "up to you to save the world".

Well, twas the far superior textures that were alluded to, not wee aesthetics like that.

Should presumably be no difference between pal and ntsc versions if you're running pal60?

May be a n00b question, but does the 50hz/60hz issue still apply to this, i.e. juddering in 60hz and therefore best to play in 50? Or has it been ironed-out?

            I. AM. BUZZING!!!! OMFG!!! I've just got off Halo 2 after a marathon 16 player session! So much fun, no lag, team work, aggression, stealth, tatics, one on ones, dual weilding, sniping, rocket locking FUN FUN FUN!!! Honestly i've never had so much fun online with any game before in my life. I can't praise bungie enough. Just off to check my stats on the bungie.net site now - PWNAGE!!!!!

Tommy - that's exactly how I felt playing this online last night It is one of the smoothest, most amazing online games I've ever played. The amount of fun you can have with a rocket launcher, a couple of enemies and a narrow hallway

Seems fine to me. I'm playing in 60Hz and there's no slowdown issues like with the first game

As far as i can tell...
There is a PAL 60 since it does run smooth. Definitely none of the juddery nonsense Halo had.

I've run it both on PAL 60 and NTSC mode, and it's fine.

Haven't had any pop up of whole characters / scenery etc, but some of the cut scenes did chug a bit when there was a lot going on ie:- When the Elite Heretic was getting branded (or whatever ) right at the beggining

I've also seen the game adjust the textures on the characters when it cuts to a close up view. Most noticable was the cut scene at the end of Return to Sender.

Some time when I die, I can see a gray MC for about 2secs were the textures havent loaded yet.

Aww come on guys! Pop up this, texture that! pah! Forget about it! The game it-self is amazing and such trivial things shouldn't matter.

No, this is fully 50/60hz compliant: the only reason Halo wasn't was because (curse them for their good intentions!) Microsoft/Bungie optimised the first for Pal.

The game does have a very delineated med/high texture periphery, as mentioned above... Try approaching discarded weapons (needlers particularly) - if you're further than about 5 feet away they look like matchboxes stuck together and painted purple. Get closer and - pop! - nice high detail model hoves into view...

It isn't amazing in one-player, though; just... good.

                          I can't comment on multi...

Have to say I'm placing more faith in Metroid now: hope it's polished-up to goodness.
I enjoyed Metroid more than Halo first time around, it has to be said...

Multi player is amazing. One player is ****.

Halo 2 = buggy as hell.

Imagine my surprise, I pick Level 1, choose Normal difficulty, then it goes onto the Loading screen, but doesn't actually load. No bar moved across the screen, or anything. Reset Xbox time. I had to do it THREE ****ING TIMES before it started to load. Shoddy.
