Either way, your local computer shop or fair is the best place to go for much cheapness. Avoid PC World

OK, quick question:
I have the game, but I have a modded x-box. Now, if I boot it up, with the chip turned off, is there any instant effects that it will give? I really would like to start playing this, but with all the madness surrounding x-box live accounts being destroyed left, right and center I want to make sure about what i'm getting myself into.

Played this all night...so far i dunno what all tghe fuss is about .. think you guys are living in some kinda dream world or somethin .. thinking this is like the best game ever.. the graphics are alright nohing special if you have played on a decent pc and doom 3.. the actual combat is average at best...nothing can touch a pc, mouse and keys.. pad is just so clumsy.. no rocket jumps.. wtf.. i will contine playing for the story as that seems to be the only part thats ok..its not the worst game by any means but i enjoyed playing riddick far more than i am H2, but its all a bit mah for my liking.. halo was nothing special .. and neither is this imo

Well like i said .. "imo i think"...stuff like quake, doom 3, unreal and farcry are all much much better titles.. better Gfx, better enviroments, better game play, just much more my type of game.. halo just feels average...
and if you have to quiz about rocket jumps.. you don't know what a fun action packed lan game on Q3 is like, with M&K's ... stuff of the gods..

No, I think the question was an abbreviation "why the hell do you need rocket jumps in Halo 2"?
Rocket jumps are exploits that happen to make a lot of sense in a fast-based competetive FPS such as Q3. In Halo 2, where RLs are more anti-vehicle than anti-player, they have no place. It's a design decision the designers took, put up with it.
I like Q3 as a competetive DM FPS. Halo 2 is more my cup of tea, because I prefer team-based, tactical games, with a more action-y leaning than Rainbow6. Halo2 fits the bill perfectly.

Personally, I think the game is amazing. I've just spent all day/night playing and I think it is the most enjoyable FPS experience (maybe even multiplayer experience) I?ve every had.
From what I've played the single player is good, being Halo updated. To be honest though, I wouldn?t be that bothered if there was no single player ?multi-player (Live and I presume sys link) is that good. It provides such a satisfying great balance of action and shooting, which means games are tactical but fairly fasted paced. The fact that you can customise every aspect of the game is also really great. Team Oddball with 3 teams on Ivory Tower starting with magnums? Easily done.
Also, the online ranking system means that when you play ranked (as opposed to Custom) games you are put with randoms of the same skill level. Sounds odd, and takes a bit of getting used too. But it rocks. For example, I tried a 1v1 ranked game. First game (your rank is 1 by default) I played against someone pretty bad and won 6-2 because I was playing cautiously. Second game I played someone about the same and won 10-0. Next game I was put with someone about my level and he won 7-3 or something. This is so refreshing, and solves one of my major gripes with previous online games ?i.e. that if you don?t play with people you know there is no way of telling how good they will be before hand. It also means that whinny 14 year old Americans cannot artificially up their stats by preying on those new to the game.
I couldn't care less if some people don't like it. I just played a 1 hour long match of CTF Class with 15 other grown men on the new Blood Gultch which my team lost 2-1, and now I'm going to bed with a very big smile on my face.
