Actually, I think it is the poor ending - both storywise and gameplay which leaves a sour taste... I take back ...most... of what I said - I've just been on Legendary and spent a good couple of hours trying to cut through the hordes of Elites in the 2nd hangar in level one... finally managed it, phew... reminded me of boarding the T&R in Halo 1, only that took me like a full day on Legendary.
Onto the next section and phew that slowed me down, thinking I was all ace until I swapped my plasma pistol/rifle combo for plasma pistol/SMG; four Elites mowed down.

Although... I do think that was wee too hard... I mean, I'm still on the first level... I'm starting to dread crawling through the next, like 14.5 levels now... how'ma gunna get past those Brutes on Lej?

Overall, I think the story seems very disjointed, and having seen the making of, it seems like Jo Staten was (a) cut short with time and (b) optimistic about how much character he put into the game... Miranda Keyes was nothing but a name to me, no personality allowed to flourish... no Master Chief-Cortana moments (even like the trailers), and telling 'it' from the Covenant side was a mistake... I think a lot of people had pondered over what the Covenant were really like, and so showing it was a mistake as it removed a lot of their mystery (and perhaps our own private conceptions of why, who, what).

Bottom line, after initial diappointment: gameplay good - bigger and badder and MORE (if a little over-complicated), storyline bad. Ending worse.

well..i remember getting the game on launch day..no pre-order...no q, just walked up n got it..a bonus in asian country!!!!!!

Then going back home....played the game..n immediately I was feeling a hint of ' awesome!' when I saw the intro...and watching the other 'towers' get blown to bits by the covenant....as in, I kill em in the hangar..turn around..next thing u know, i see this station get blown up to bits.....it was a great moment. DRAMA OH I LOVE IT! These alien sobs are coming to get earth!!!!!

Unfortunately from there onwards...a sense of boredom overcame me...esp the 2nd lvl..which alot of ppl appear to rave on n on abt how great it was...Sorry, no click for me. When chief landed on Earth, I thought it was gonna be great, fighting enemy on homeground! Oh BOOOOO! That's fine though..at least now we know there are 7 rings...etc etc etc but eventually, we got a very badly constructed story as in....first we thought it was abt the invasion of earth, then it's ' KILL THE TRAITOR!'...then it's ' KILL THE CONVENANTS'...then it's ' KILL THE COVENANTS!'.............

Using the elite during the game was kinda fun...but I was hoping that since I would be using elite, that means...I get to kill the marines...oh I don't?

Of coz, plot dictates I end up killing the same enemies. Frankly speaking...that's fine too. I suppose, it's my own twisted fantasy wanting to shoot some marines kekeke.

And there are portions of the game that down right pisses me off...doors not opening as it should...random 'falling' deaths (thanks to bad design)...

and I cannot get over how ppl are so in love with the gfx. Well, I suppose I should...but to see halo 2 get such praises for gfx n to see cell shading being blasted or having to put up with claims that VF4 FT gfx suxs is.......................

Don't get me wrong...the way I see it...as long as the gfx are fine...served their purpose in letting u be aware of what u are seeing...what is around u..which platform u have to jump on to etc etc etc, then generally, I don't give a **** whether the textures are **** etc etc. So as far as I am concerned with, Bungie did their job...

Aha..let's not forget the ending...it is a fact that Bungie fell behind production dates as noted in the DVD. Even so, the ending while it was a totally WTF moment...I thought was actually quite good! However, another three (I am assuming) years to finish the halo story????? And who's to say it will end at 3?

In Halo, players played through the game..wondering what Halo is..why the covenant wants to destory humans...big turning point was ' omg what is a flood!!!!'..even bigger turning point was when gamers found out Halo is actually a weapon... designed to contain the flood (or kill). Lotsa neat twists in part one.

For Halo 2..it felt pretty matrix for me. Better effects than part one, better fight scenes than part one...better music than part one...but the story?????

Let's all sit n pray we don't end up buying the game just so we can laff n say to ourselves ' see, I knew this was an over-hyped pos'.

I dont agree with some of your impressions summah but you are intitled to them. I am loving this game, the only downside of the gfx for me is the slight filtering in of textures you sometimes get. Alough playing my usa copy in my pal machine has totally removed that problem strangly.

Im loving the story so far, and i have to say i like playing as the convenant was pretty cool i liked how you got an insight into them this way. As i say everyone should not be scared to post what you feel about the game i dont i love everything about it from the sp to the mp game. End the end its just your own thoughts and some may love it some may hate it.

FFS people quit with the spoilers already.

Either use the color dropdown in the advanced reply (not quick reply) or learn the tags:

          [ color=white]spoiler text here[ /color]
(but without the space after the opensquarebrackets).

And you are basing this on the three online games of Halo 2 that you've played?

Yes I am basing it on the time I've had on it. So what? Goodness me! So you saying I have to play 100 hours before being able to afford an opinion?

No Mr Ono. But you need a few more games than 3.

First 5 games, meh I thought. But after that and you get into some proper games, it's just amazing. Play some games on the same team as me and Soi, and tell me you don't think it's fantastic.

Did those that have seen the ending catch the sequence after the credits?

I have some niggles with the game, ones I think have a much larger affect on the game play than one would imagine but they're mostly lost on the brilliance of it all, so I'm not gonna complain about them really

Neil mentioned it earlier on but its worth saying again how impressive the stats stuff done on bungie.net is and worth checking out if you havent looked yet. If only my performances were as impressive.

                        hehe, cheers Scotty.

Don't get me wrong! I will persist with the game (I spent over ?150 on wireless routers and access points etc to get onto LIVE recently for it FFS) and bought 2 copies of the game because I didn't get it on release day from Play so went to Gamestation as well.

I'll be on and off so hopefully my stats will get better - but I do not like the pad for FPS at all. Oh, and the Yanks! Not very polite are they?

Some of the Americans are great, you only tend to meet the annoying ones on the Rumble or ranked servers.

Get in a custom game with some peeps from this forum and you'll soon learn to love the game

                          pwnage!
I'm finding the games on the Rumble servers to be very tough already, the standards are increasing very quickly...I got whooped so badly last night on two of the maps that I actually thought my ranking would go down again. And then this happend, and made me feel all happy again

The review is written and going through the editing process, by the way. Hopefully it'll be online this weekend or early next week.

I did have a strange encounter with an American guy yesterday. He was utterly convinced I was stalking him. He actually sounded quite nervous about it and started complaining. Very odd.

I hope I can manage to hook with some of you over this weekend. Trouble is I've got family visiting and I'm struggling to find the time to play.

And the two times I've been around and had invites for some reason I've not been able to join. I got "network error" messages.

As you can probably imagine: its driving me mad!!

I played this for four hours on heroic in co-op with my halophile mate last night.

If I hadn't touched the 1P beforehand, my opinion of the game would be somewhat higher.

It wasn't as satisfying as co-op in the original, but it was a helluva lot more pleasing than the hollow 1P experience.

Masses more fun. Of course he was aurally beating me around the head with how misinformed my negative opinions were, so perhaps his propoganda has ameliorated my view somewhat too...

Still, loads more fun than 1P...

Hmm, i got this on friday from Play.com, been enjoying it, they've added alot of music to the game (compared to the silence in Halo) and it makes the game just feel different and a bit disracting, although the music is good.

Anyway, I want to play it online, shamefully, My router is USB based, do i need to get a new router or is there a wire or something I can buy?
