Anyone heard the latest rumour?

Apparently (now this is good)...... Rare have been working on Halo 3 for 2 years now, to get it ready for Xbox 2 launch. IGN will have the scoop next week and it'll be shown on Feb 9th (as seen in the credits when you finish Halo 2 on legendary)

And as far fetched as this one is, it could almost be logical. Rare have been a bit slow to release anything substantial yet (maybe too busy on Halo 3), the Xbox 2 is apparently going to be shown at the CES in January, so showing Halo 3 in Feb seems likely. Bungie did mention that they wanted to start work on something new, away from Halo, maybe they gave rare the basics and let them do all the hard work.

Anyway, rumours like this happen all the time and I'm yet to see one actually come true, so pinch of salt so far.

It was like each time we'd come up with a new hair-brained tactic that would go tits up and end up a mad scramble over the flag, including our memorable "OMFG I have the flag where the hell is our base?!?!?" second score

I just finished it. I heard that the ending was annoying, but I didn't expect it to be that bad.
Halo 3 is far away, I'm sure of that. Bungie didn't spend 3 years making just that. There's going to be stack loads of DLC, mark my words.

Edit: Though don't get me wrong, I loved it. Prefered it to Halo.

Did ANYONE get a fecking HUGE adrenaline rush when you:

Killed the Brute with his hammer/mace on the 'last' level and was shown the cinema with the revealing of knowing that there is seven Halos. Once I saw Earth being under attack and the space station was blowing up with the captain on board, finding out why Master Chief was on the 'Ark'.

And said:

"Sir. Finishing this fight."

When I saw and heard all this, my mind and the excitment factor when so high that I had to control myself (I was acting like a 4 year old on Christmas day).

The credits roll.

My body completely went.

Yeah, as an end of an episode of 24 it is great, but having to wait X number of years for the next part is just pure evil. The whole story builds up to that point, and then ends before the next stage. Booo!

Was a fantastic cutscene though, as were they all.

Totally dissatisfying "cliffhanger". Sour taste all round.

It's alright having an "end of season" cliffhanger a la 24, DS9 etc because you know there's a (reasonably) definite period of time until the next series etc. Who knows when Halo 3'll show up...

Maybe that would of been the last level. Chief lands on earth and that's the last level, remember on the video he got captured? Maybe that could be how Halo 3 starts...
