There are a whole host of (imaginative) ways to beat the end. If you're quick enough during one particular moment, you may not even need to see him in battle.

I know about tryin to poison the bas but didnt get chance to lay any traps!! But, is him sneaking up behind you part of the fight?? Thought it was so cool when I heard his old voice and he fired cant be assed trawling through all that stuff to go back so am just gonna load up my game near where you start fightin him I think!! Unless it is part of the fight?

        Not poison...

        Minor spoiler:

You have the opportunity to snipe The End quickly after the raining/night-time cutscene at the warehouse, thus avoiding his boss battle.

It's hard though as far as I'm aware. I haven't done it myself, only read about it. Remember, Snake's yet to find the rifle at that point, so no zoom mode.

I put mines all over the place, I just kept hearing him run into them all the time 8) Then I found the a real easy way to kill them and that was that

I managed to sneak up to him and hit the poor sod with a couple of shotgun blasts second time through the game. The battle was over in five minutes.

It can vary. Sometimes this section can extend on for an epic battle, and another time it may be over in the blink of an eye.

The boss scenes in Snake Eater are brilliantly thought out.

Everything about the boss fights has been executed superbly!! I have found there supplies wartehouse and when I interrogated a guard he gave me the radio code for some kind of air strike!!

It didnt save the code on my codec so gonna have to grab another and hope he gives me it!!

Wear the Thermal goggles and you can track his footprints, which makes finding him easier

BTW as a kind soul on rllmuk has noticed, the extra soundtrack with key camouflage disc is a tenner at amazon.co.uk

                        Well, I've finally finished it

The whole last section is outstanding, pretty much from the escape from Grozny Grad onwards - and talk about an emotional ending.

There's something so hauntingly beautiful about the fight with The Boss. A battlefield where one persons death is inevitable amid a site of natural peace and tranquility.

You really can't help but feel for The Boss and Snake during this game. The revelation at the end makes the whole thing even harder for him to come to terms with. No wonder he goes a little off the deep end.

I loved the small touches to this game. Things like using the directional mic to find The End. You can hear his rasping breathing and when you pin point him exactly he says "This... is The End" in a wonderful dramatic fashion

Infact, as has already been said, the whole of the Cobra unit encounters are excellent.

The bike sections were superb stuff.

And at the end, Snake looked so much like Snake Plissken it was unreal

I want to go back and play it more so much, take my time and really take in everything I missed first time round but Gt4 is calling on me.

I got a radio code from a guy to call off the alert status, Came in very handy when I was getting ambushed in the weapons lab. But then the code changes, and you can't use it a second time, very smart!

wow I need to find the person who tells you that little secret.

As someone said before stupid GT4 is pulling me away from playing mgs3 again. I will play it again though!!!

I have GT4 with my official wheel waiting to be played after MGS3... but I want to go through MGS again. Also, got Devil May Cry 3 to pick up next week and Splinter Cell the week after!! Not enough room for all these top titles!!

Loving the fight with THE END right now!! I found him sleeping in one spot and rattled him with the shotgun!! Old ****er manager to get away before I could finish him and flash banged my ass!! Am def gonna give this another play through though, same as Resi 4... it is a fantastic game which deserves another detailed play through. Story so far in Snake Eater is class and cant wait to meet the boss again... top stuff!!

I played this for the first time at the weekend. My fiance's brother lent me it.

Must say, i wasn't very impressed.

I spent about 20 mins getting drowned in the swamp, and everything is too hard to see in the jungle.

I loathe having to go into first person mode to see whats about, its too dam frustrating. I want my radar back

I got to the point of the first encounter with the guards, got spotted, so the controller went flying one way and a stream of expletives the other.

I tryed to like it, i really did. I got right into the other two Solids, Its just not gonna happen with this one.

Went back to GT4 after that.
