Doesn't seem that good to me, wireless drops out connected to my access point a couple of rooms away, but works perfectly fine in the same room as the access point, whereas with a laptop I can go all over the house and even outside without a problem....

I don't know if I'm doing something wrong... i'm trying to connect via WEP (non secure is fine)... but it's asking for a WEP key when i have a table with 4 keys... (64bit enc). I've tried the default key of the 4, but it didn't seem to work... any help greatly recieved!

Why not leave it non-secure, and just limit MAC addresses at the router? That's what i did- admittedly because it was easier, but i don't see the harm

But it sounds like your putting the long string into the PSP, don't you put the actual word/phrase into into the PSP that generated the keys? Never really messed with WEP myself.

Yeah - done as you suggested - no WEP is quicker too :-D
i tried the pass phrase I used to generate the keys... but it said it wasn't a valid key. hmmmm. I tried the default of the 4 keys - that went in ok - but no joy.

You have to enter it in hex, pass phrase is no good here..... it should work ok, did for me....

websurfing would be cool, but too much hassle at the moment for me to be bothered Come on sony, pull yer finger out and release something official.

                      A couple of tips..

When you enter your hex WEP key, if it doesn't work, make sure you have entered your default key and that the default key is the first one in the key table. This is the only combination that worked for me - but it works fine.

Also... you can apparently browse much faster by turning off 'WEP power saving mode' in the system setup bit.

I tried to do it and put in a DNS server that some guy on a website made but it doesn't work. Does it have to be one on the host machine itself? If so then I can't do it as I use my neighbours wireless connections since I don't have one yet.

If you turn off the WEP power saving mode, does it uses a lot more battery power?
I noticed that when I connected my psp and put it right next to my wireless access point and then pinged it from my computer, I got about 200ms ping. When I disabled the power saving I got ping 0...
Also when I try to connect from another room, I get very poor signal strength.

So how much more power does the "full power WEP" use?

Just got my PSP today via VG+, what a system. When i opened the box, i was afraid to touch the ****ing thing, that shiny, that new. When powering up the system i was in awe, the presentation, UI (User Interface), and graphic design are all top class. Once going through all the options, it was time to boot up a game, that game would be Ridge Racers.

I love the Ridge Racer series, it was part of the reason i bought this handheld, it ****in rocks. One thing i've been reading over the last few month's regarding the systems analouge stick, how punters find hard to get used to. To be honest, i think it's not the stick that's the problem, but the way some people hold the system. Oh, and the earphones aren't all that bad either!!

Overall, i'm a happy gamer. With loads of new games coming out for the system and the technology that it incorporates, who know's what the system will be doing in years to come (hopefully some ****in excellent emulation). The future is definately here. Go get!

                            Peace
