    Sob.
That would feel sublime! Being able to give the banking a delicate touch via the triggers would be something else! Same with the Landmaster - gradual control on each side's thrusters would have felt wicked too.

dont worry i think they lied, it must be 2-3 hours, but for each arwing level you have to get something like 2500 for a gold medal, no lie

well i still think its going to be quite good, i mean i can get used to controls quickly, the on-foot missions i could try to love, but the movement of the arwings looks gorgeus, you should see the new videos on IGN, plus i doubt 3 arwing missions are false, however there are lots of hits to acheive for highh medals, and i hope that co-op is unlockable(damn magazines) plus dont cancel your orders, you've waited so long why stop now!

Bowser, I can't comment on there being only 3 Arwing levels as I haven't completed it. What I've seen so far is 1 level (the first) being soley dedicated to flying the Arwing. Other levels are mixed, meaning you get out of the Arwing and are on foot or in the Landmaster. I just had a mission where a part of it was spent on Falco's Arwing's wing. I was standing on it shooting away as he was flying...so slow though.

I found the option where you can replay any completed mission and go for medals, you select what medal you want and depending on the difficulty your score is multiplyed at the end.

Banking, there is a sort of bank, though I feel it's leans toward the left hand side. What you do is gently push in the left trigger, this allows you to do sharp movements. Problem is though I end up doing a spin, and I've found zero use for it.

So far it does appear foot sections are a main focus in this game.

I'm not the type to spread rumours. I have read over at gaming-age & gamefaqs, and they have confirmed there are only 3 proper on-rail arwing missions.

Taurs, are there any on-rail tank missions ?

What's funny though is that everyone has been negative right from the very start to the on-foot sections... Now, years later, the finished game is upon us and all (well mostly all) reports claim that the on-foot sections are really mediocre.

I was quite confident in this title. I remember everyone being concerned about Metroid Prime, but as we all know, the game turned out ace. Plus with the quality of F-Zero GX; I was absolutely sure Namco was going to pull this one off.

Now, I haven't played the game yet.... And I certainly will, but whoever at Namco came up with the idea of of the on-foor sections? All we fans ever wanted was updated and spectacular Arwing missions, as simple as that. Kudos for trying something new, but when the execution is as bland as the end result gives the impression to be, it seems as though the Namco team hasn't reallly grasped what Starfox is all about. No banking?! 3 Arwing missions?! WTF?!

Nintendo.... We absolutely adore Starfox. Get a grip!

I think Nintnedo should of let Treasure or AV handle this one :/

Anyway, I will most probably buy the game at some point but not just yet.

IGN have given it 7/10, but when you read the review it sounds like it's actually lower than that. They say the Arwing bits are outweighed by the arena on-foot sections by 2:1.

IGN are usually pretty positive about the but Nintendo franchises, so for this to get such a lukewarm review really isn't good.

Seems initial impressions back from E3 were right afterall. Which is a damn shame.

Are Nintendo regressing? It seems like the law of diminishing returns. Let's see Here's a list of some Nintendo franchises over the years from the SNES in order of goodness IMO!

                        Mariokart
                        Mariokart 64
                        Double Dash

                        StarFox
                        StarFox 64
                        Starfox Assault

                        Mario 64
                        Super Mario
                        Mario Sunshine

...and there's others of course. With the exception of Metroid, which didn't have an N64 outing, I'm sorry to say that none of the big N sequels I've played this generation have been significantly different or better than those that came before. I could say the same for most of the N64 sequels too.

Now you could say, well what sequels do get significantly better? Well Resi for starters, Grand Theft Auto and a few more I'm sure. On the flip side of the coin we have games like Tomb Raider and Wipeout which have gone from flag waving system sellers to dissapearing off the radar altogether.

The problem Nintendo has is that they rely far more on their own brand games than Sony or Microsoft do.

They should really try to revolutionise a few more of their franchises. My three top Nintendo games this gen are all made by other companies, Monkey ball, Resi 4 and Viewtiful Joe, and all of them are now multi format titles. Depressing.

                          I think you're right Womblingfree.

As much as the Nintendo fanboy in me hates to admit it i do think that they have been getting sloppier every generation since the Super Famicom.

I'd certainly love the real story of whats going on at NCL and what the designers there think of their current output.

Probably the same as what Sega think of their output.

                              Don't forget that a 7 in IGN speak is like a 4.

*sigh* I can't believe this. Just sickening. ****ing Namco.

i'd have said mario world > mario 64 - not by a great chalk as both were excellent.... i hated sunshine with a passion, not because it was a bad game, it was just not the killer mario game for it's generation

after replaying a lot of nintendo first party sfc classics on the GBA I can honestly say I haven't enjoyed anything they have produced during this generation built on existing franchises as the original titles

still on the whole nintendo still make excellent quality games, i can't knock em
