    I found the
quite useful in situations where you need to run from one side of a room to the other, while keeping the combo bar up. Since, in Gunslinger you can have it rebounding off of all the walls, it let you scurry about instead of walking with E&I.

Still, there aren't that many times when you need to do that either. Never used

    Artemetis

    once though.

The gamespot review was ripped to shreds in here a couple weeks back... think the boy playing it was a complete ass and didnt know how to handle Dantes power!!

Is there a total of 21 missions? Am just about to start 13. Got all but trickster on Level 2 with Swordmaster giving the most love at the moment!! Royal Guard is gonna be exploited to its full potential quite shortly though.

How does the continue system in the JAP version differ to the PAL version? With PAL you have to buy continues, but they max out at 3000 so are easy to save up for doing earlier levels again. The continue system works well. I have only used it if I die at a boss, and it aint punishing at all using a continue cause they are cheap. IMO it works perfect!!

Done horse boy first time last night but it was an epic battle, lots of dodging and patience used. Ogre smacked me about first time but again a patient battle second time round put him to bed.

Target for tonight is again 3 mission progress to put me on Mission 16/17 with an hour of upgrade time Going back and fighting Cerberus (an initially tough boss) with my uber powerful Dante is ace... he doesn't know what to do with me

He talks as if its all about dodging out of the way, and states its learning curve is to steep. He also says that you should just use trickster as its the best as you always need to dodge, and to make sure you dies as many time as possable to unlock easy mode as the game is just too hard. He states he got his ass handed to him more than once during his time with the game.. I bet he did .. his flat mate was hanging out the back of him i bet .. which is why he found it so hard to complete.. The guy is a total dork.. I have a sneaky suspision he only finished it the once and only for the review... The dude knows nothing about Dante..

At least he got it in the end that its all about combo's. even though he's bigger muppet than kirmit

As you will see my earlier post.. i dont like gamespots review

In the japanese version, when you die you continue on from the last area you entered e.g. if you went through a door and into a room to say fight a boss and died, when you continue you start more or less outside that door with full health but any items you used before dying are gone for good(unless you reload from a previous save without overwriting it of course).

Actually, in the Japanese version, when you continue you start at the last statue you passed </nit-picking>

Thats a lot more forgiving than the PAL version where you purchase continues... they are that cheap that it dont really matter though. Getting 99 of the bad boys doesn't seem that difficult... just time consuming Am only using a continue if I die at a boss. If I die at any other point then I deserve to play through the whole level again for my incompetence

But that makes you lose all your experience doesn't it? It's like an extra kick in the nuts .

IMO the Styles are the core of the game, they ARE the game, allowing you to fight the way that suits you best or that gives you the greatest advantage. With practice, each one is amazingly powerful and can change the entire experience of the game. The styles add so much depth to the game that multiple play throughs is essential to see just exactly what Dante is capable of.

IMO, each one must be fully upgraded, explored and mastered before this can be put to bed. Only then will the likes of Dante Must Die mode be possible.
For the time I was playing there wasn't one section where I thought oh maybe that skill might be useful. It was all just hack 'n' slash my way through everything same as DMC. Maybe later on that changes but my intial impression still says leave it till after all my other games. Hopefully I see the potential of all the styles, like you, when I go back to it. However for now, on to more GT4 races

OK, two n00b questions for some people in the know to answer:

                        1. Is PAL Easy Mode the same difficulty as JPN Normal mode? I recall hearing this, but I'm not sure if it's just people making **** up or something. Normal mode as it is seems a rather big challenge, but I want to make sure that I can select the right thing (and have a valid excuse for being crap ). I'm playing both, anyway.

                        2. Concerning the second boss

Cerebrus - On normal, is there any good tactic to 'bait' him into doing his initial charge again? It seems I can weigh into him with sword attacks and deal some good damage to him initially while he's slowly recovering, but then it turns into just me randomly shooting heads with ebony and ivory while failing at dodging his ice attacks. :P No matter if you can't, I'll just have to take my time on him and actually have patience.

In the short while I've played this, I've enjoyed it, fast and furious fun all round.

Correct... all orbs, etc gained up to that point are lost aswell. But I figure if I die during the mission from a norma lwave of enemies then I dont deserve those points the only way you learn... through punishment... hehehe!!

                          Mission 2 Boss:

Posted about this dude couple pages back so will keep this brief... Stay at range until you shoot all the ice off his parts (3 heads and 2 legs)... then get in to his legs and use the most powerful melee combos you have. This will eventually bring him down to the floor, stunned, allowing you to attack his heads with all the sword combos you have!! When in close watch for this swipes and other attacks... just keep avoiding his counters then get back in close to his legs!! Repeat this until he weakend and finish him.

Also, when he does his charge attack and lunges the length of the screen, avoid it by juming or rolling then get tore into his heads as he is gettin pulled back. Must be patient to avoid getting hit but these are the best ways to wear him down

Am sure the later bosses will be easy for ya

It takes some game to beat Ninja Gaiden in the frustration stakes- incredibly DMC3 does that and then some!

What a frustrating POS. Not only did I come close to smashing to pad to bits, I swear I almost threw the ps2 out of the window.

Ive just spent one hour and 15 attempts trying to beat mission 2 (!). Forced to repeat the dull as dish water grunt fights, only to try every possible tactic on a boss that I cant even hit. Great fun ;/

Someone give me one good reason not to sell this >_< DMC1 was a hundred times better.

Am I doing something wrong? Its the US Version, im playing it in normal mode and I just find it ridiculously hard. Not hard as in challenging, just pure frustrating. I have tried out all the styles, none of them really make it less frustrating. HTF do I hit the first boss!!

I'm playing on easy (i make no excuses!) and am really loving this game. It's just so full on; the visceral thrill of the gun/sword play coupled with the metaaal music. Intense. Been pretty easy on the bosses so far, I beat boss two with mainly guns and a lot of jumping around to avoid the ice attacks. Worked ok. Didn't enjoy DMC one or two, but the balance seems right in this one. Have been screaming 'Die You Motherf***er' at the screen during the boss fights willing them to fall to my twin pistols...only being told to calm down by the missus
