im a huge fan of both games, a number of facts and questions though!

who is doing the pal release of 2 and what will it be called?
is there anymore news on the 360 version called EDF X i think
and has anyone else seen the new tactical ps2 game based on these games?

I think its 505 Gamestreet and its called Monster Attack: Invasion.

The tactical game is coming out in just over 3 weeks. I'm definately going to import it.

Just a quick update:
Managed to beat the Mother Godzilla using MLR-2 guided missiles. I think that's the name. It shoots out 30 guided missiles very quickly, with damage of 50 each. Took a while, but she eventually went down.


If you're stuck at the (first?) ant queen, you haven't even seen the best bits yet. Later levels will have your jaw on the floor. It's worth trying that level again. Maybe play some of the easier levels to stock up on better guns - and make sure you have the "technical control" setting (like an FPS basically).

I think I used the gun that shoots bouncy green bullets (FAAAAR right column), and "Guerilla Rockets" (the fast ones). You have to be fast inside the chamber though, since the queen releases a kind of poison gas. Definitely worth trying again.


For a "Simple" low budget game, this has some of the best visuals I've ever seen on the PS2. The amount of "things" that are kept track of, and are constantly in motion, is stunning. It has niggles, like slow down, but it doesn't feel like a budget title to me.


Some questions:
How many levels are there in total? At first I thought a hundred, but looking at my % of completed levels... I'm thinking it's closer to 70?

How do I easily acquire higher powered weapons? Because right now, it just doesn't feel like enough. I'm carrying rockets and guided missiles into every stage because regular guns just don't cut it anymore.

the later stuff blew me away, stunning game for a budget. i hope the 360 version is even madder, even bigger bosses, 100s more ants etc, and no slowdown either. online coop would rock as well!

I made it to 71 last night, and had a few attempts, but it was proving very difficult, so I retired for the evening. I was using the zoom rocket launcher (600 damage), and a high powered sniper rifle. Is this good equipment to take into that level, or do you recomend something else?

Also, the screens gets very busy when you try going close to the middle of the map. Is there a was to solve this?

Yep. I have no PS2 at all, so I'm selling all my Japanese PS2 games (check the trading forum). Any that don't sell will be put into hibernation until I get a PS3.

To start with, take your time as there's a lot to do. Start with the outer sections and blast all the useless craps you see of the ship, it'll help later as it gives you a relatively safe area. Then just work you way in. When it start launching all other kinds of hell in your direction, time to move in s-l-o-w-l-y and work off the remaining guns leaving the centre section undefended. If you need health, just retreat and destroy some regular bad guys, get the pick ups.

Took me about an hour the first time I fought against him but seeing how you posted a few months back, I guess you've got it by now
