Has anyone else had their save file disappear after finishing the xbox version? Finished yeasterday and wanted to reply one of the chapters, so went into the chapters section played though it again, got back to the title screen and everything has gone. I'm well pissed, I was just going to start using the bonus points to unlock secrets, don't know if I can be arsed now.

Finished it last night, loved it til the end.
Have a few gameplay/story gripes that i will share with anyone who cares.
Firstly gameplay, those F***KING L AND R bashing moments did my head in at times wished i could have changed the controller options, i warn you at the end you will HAVE to bash L and R like mad to get a particular ending.
OH thats another thing that pissed me off there is no telling what ending you got, it doesnt say A+ or Good or Bad it just ends.
There are only 3 main story gripes that me and the missus agreed on though after having a wee discussion when i finished it.
We thought as though it lost the main feeling of tension towards the end with.....
The whole Lucas dying and becoming SO superhuman, there is just no more tension, the feeling of suspense as to whether the cops are right outside your door is just lost when you know you could just fly away as he's that superhuman!
ALSO
The whole A.I moment, the most hints it dropped to A.I being involved and watching lucas seemed to be his PC monitor flashing and TV sets going mad. Get the feeling if the A.I thing could have been worked into the story more it would have been a brilliant idea, instead it came across as being a tad random.
And finally THE WORST
Lucas and Carla getting it on and getting together, WTF was all that about! Pissed me right off, they just mushed a love relationship outa thin air and they get shagging on a train.
Now you can understand them having a quick poke if they think its the end of the world tomorrow but just thought it was a bit unbelieveable for Carla to suddenly say I love you Lucas, when throughout the majority of the game she thinks he is a cold blooded murderer and then all of a sudden is madly in love with him, even though he is SO cold and dead like.
OTHER than that bloody terrific game screaming for a sequal on next gen, Come on Mr Cage you know you can do it....after Nomad Soul 2 of courseMaybe nomad soul 2 will encorporate the Fahrenheit style engine onto it,hope so.

When i watched that i picked the do not save option, when it ended everything was reset. points, saves, unlocks were all gone i almost shat myself, i switched off console and re-loaded my profile and everything was fine.

Totally agree with steve on the plot points.
The tension does just disappear and it's like you end up waiting to see what will happen next. Reminded me of the feeling in Matrix Reloaded where Neo finds himself in a similar position of power. from then on you know he'll win. I think the problem with Fahrenheit is that there's no real rise to power. He just finds it's there and there's no real concept of anyone being stronger than him. Personaly I liked it more when it was grounded firmly in reality. I guess I just feel more of a connection with stories like that I guess.
The Lucas/Carla thing is absolutely bizarre too. How long does she know him for? A day? Maybe two? The whole apocalypse bonk idea would've been more convincing I think, and even that's not great. Just an excuse to inject some sauce into the game at the end really.
The end is far too abrupt though. It is a bit like "okay, this ended up happening and everything is good/bad/okayish". For a title that borrows many elements of cinema well, it hasn't learnt anything about tying up a story. There really was no subtlety when there so could've been. I guess the ending monologue fits in the theme with all the other 'unplanned' endings (the game over-type ones) but still, everything could've been presented witha bit more thought.
What was satisfying though, is when you're faced with choices where there is a right way of doing things, such as when you persuade Kuryakin into believing your story or (a little more obvious) when Agatha wants to take Jade away from you near the end. It's great when you get it right, knowing you made the right choices

You need to place the book down where you use the magnifying glass, then look on the 3rd floor in the section with the white lights, it was in the second bookcase for me but I'm not sure if that makes a difference..

The book you want is in the same section as the book the old man gives you. Use the two "stations" on either end of the ground floor and the one on the second floor to find out which section that is.
Less subtle spoiler:
Use the magnifying glass at the station under the stairs and note the author of the book he gives you. Go to the station on the second floor and look up the author. The book there will tell you what century he's from. Go back down to the station behind the old man and the book there will now tell you where the book you're holding belongs. The year it was made will tell you the floor it's on and the name of the author will tell you in which color section. When I played it was in the white section on the 3rd floor. Wherever it is, go there and pick up the book.

In the menu (pressing select - for the Xbox- opens up a journal of each character and a time log/completion ratio on an opposite screen).
It's in the Xbox version too.
Having had the chance to play all three versions, I'd say the PC version is the definitive. Graphically it's a leap ahead (obviously of the console versions) due to the increase in texture resolution and filter effects. Having said that, the clarity of the visuals can at time take away from the gaps you're able to plug in (or imagine) for the other editions.
