Originally posted by mazzaYeah I got this game today aswell From VG+. Used DHL as I had to have this game soon as. From when I first booted it up I had a massive grin on my face. It is exactly how I expected it to be and am currently loving every second.
I do have music on my memory stick but still it says custom soundtrack unavailable. I shall have to check the manual when I get a minute. Will post more impressions after a good few hours of play.
Weird. Wonder if it only works on songs of a certain length?

Apparently you have to unlock the custom soundtracks, i've heard it occours
after the Donald Love mission
.
And yes its been confirmed that its 2.0 firmware, and rumour has it that the "2.0" on the UMD is really 2.01, and hence not downgradable. So if you are going to upgrade please use a confirmed 2.0 so you can downgrade again after - assuming you wish to.

For those of you with GTA:LCS - if you're looking for the fabled custom soundtrack facility, don't - supposedly, it's not there.
Apparently, Rockstar intend to release it as a downloadable patch sometime in the future.
Truth or Lie? You decide - Further details can be found here.Last edited by Nu-Eclipse; 27-10-2005, 19:25.

A couple of notes are of interest regarding this Custom Tracks application. First, although GTA is all about rhyming and stealing, Rockstar has made the decision to focus exclusively on purchased music. You can only convert music from a store-bought CD -- no tracks downloaded from a music blog, no tracks ripped from your buddy's CD collection. This also means no tracks bought and paid for from services like iTunes or Napster yet, but it could be possible that future versions of the Rockstar Custom Tracks feature might support alternative audio formats.
Silly Rockstar, very silly.

All you have to do is burn a cd version of your mp3s and then re-rip using the Rockstar software. Not too much of a pain.
The reason is probably something as mundane as it being easier to convert from cd format (uncompressed) to their compressed format than it is to go from compressed to compressed.
