Just strarted playing this today.
BLOODY HELL THIS GAME IS DIFFICULT!
I'm no DOA master (far from it), but I no newbie either... The difficulty spikes in the single player story mode are just insane. Once the CPU opponent starts a lenghy juggle/combo I may as well just quit and start again. Very annoying to say the least.
I'm a little underwhelmed by the visuals too. It just looks like DOA3 in high-res. Team Ninja desperately need better lighting and shadowing tech, especially self shadowing on the characters. But it's nice to get a 360 game in 720p at 60fps with anti-aliasing turned on.
The online stuff is really cute, I love the lobbys. But I've had lots of lag so far...

Got my copy this morning and completed it with Kasumi so far. Whilst I agree that it is pretty difficult to begin with, it does have oodles of depth over previous versions and breaking your opponents combo is all about skill, more specifically mastering the timing of the counters. It is definitely much less of a button basher than previous iterations. Visually I think it looks pretty nice, granted it's not a huge leap over the last version, but as I've said before, I think that says more of what Team Ninja managed to achieve on the Xbox.

The boss is unimaginably cheap! Wow, sheer frustration on a DVD.
Had a few good games online though, and much to my surprise, I actually won a few! Quite unusual for me as I'm no fighting game master and am used to getting beaten to a pulp within seconds when playing SF2 or Third Strike online.
I now have a sore thumb and will rest for a while.

I don't find the boss that tough to be honest - it only does a handful of moves when you let it. The easiest tactic to just batter it with quick 'n simple moves. It blocks quite often, but rarely seems to counter. Just make sure you don't get close when you've knocked it down though.
Had some great games with Soi online just now, and the lag really wasn't that bad. He taught me a few things about the counters which is really helpful, but i find pulling them off to be pretty tough at the moment. We had a few good fights for sure, though he completely destroyed me overall

Game is still playable with lag. Just slows down. If you think about it positively, it's a good opportunity to learn timing those counters! Have had plenty of games with USA and JPN players though even with a red bar on the connection thing with no lag. Prefer games with JPN players since they rarely trashtalk (in fact rarely talk at all) and concentrate on having a good fight.
And if you think that Dural-wannabe is cheap try her on very-hard time attack (2 rounds) and let the pain ensue!

How the fking hell are you meant to do Ryu's Shoho-Izuna?
The command is 3 PK PP 4789632 FP
(aka, diaganal down, punchkick, punch punch, 270 degree ending with down, free+punch)
however it does not initiate the throw part at the end. I believe you are only meant to throw when the Combo Throw text appears, however I've done this and it still doesn't work. If you leave it too late the enemy drops. I can do the other Izuna drops without any problems, but I've been stuck on this for ages
Anyhow....I'm typing this sitting really close to the tele, hadn't noticed how bloody amazing the textures are on the clothing. Skin textures aren't great, but the detail in the cloth is insane.

Originally posted by marcusIm on my first boss battle, so far have got nowhere near beating her yet.
When Im being pummelled by the CPU doing a 95-hit combo insane death destruction move on me, how do I go about getting out of it? Particularly in the air. Is it a case of having to perfectly time a counter?
I wouldn't bother with trying to counter or throw tbh, she is too quick and will punish you!
