    Amped 3

I had only given this a quick blast on launch day, but last night I sat down and gave it a bit more of my time. First impressions are good. I was a big fan of the previous version and figured this would be just more of the same but tarted up, but it's not. Whilst Amped 2 took a more serious approach to snowboarding than other games of this type (as in the SSX series), this version takes a more surreal route. Tricking has been made slight easier, in that your boarder levels out automatically, which down on the frustration factor greatly. I've only done a few challanges so far but some of them involved jumping through fake hoops of fire, grinding down a giant sausage and sledging down a make shift toboggan run into a collection of garden gnomes.

Just when you thought SSX On Tour couldn't be beaten in it's art direction, along comes Amped 3 which blows it away. Some of the cutscenes and challenge introductions are superbly done, i na lo-fi kind of way. It's hard to explain so just check the official site for an idea on how it looks:

Entertain with the unique and fun snowboarding and gambling researches. Find interesting snowboarding games and useful information.

I can definitely see myself putting a lot of time into Amped 3 as I did the previous version.

I've got this on the way. Along with Condemned this definitely seems to have suffered at the hands of the critics unfairly.

Is this still closer to Amped than SSX?

Yeah it's still feels like an Amped game, it's not quite as in-your-face as the SSX series.

More impressions please! Amped 2 was one of my favourite Xbox games - it just had an unbeatable "one more go" quality.

Heard bad things for number 3, but then - Amped 2 got some strange reviews too.

Wow. Amped 3 has amazed me somewhat. I've never played a snowboarding game before but this has surprised me and I'm really enjoying it

Amped 3 is the same, but now there's ****loads more to do. On top of the usual snowboarding you can do side missions which involve other modes of snow-based transport, from the affore mentioned sledge, to riding a snowmobile. There's three different areas at the moment (three sections of the same mountain) and basically you board down looking for things to do. There's also a course editor which looks pretty cool and you can unlock new "furniture".

From what I've read it seems to just be scoreboards etc. No real Live play.

Amped 2 still is fully live compatible, and is 720p - looks pretty fabtastic in HD. The only reason I haven't gone for Amped 3 is that still got loads to play in 2, and the graphics don't seem particularly next gen.

I got this on the weekend, was instantly impressed with it, the game starts off really well, setting the mood and throwing you strait into snowboarding.

The story sections are quite good, crazy videos in it, it is a strange game in a way, the fmv parts of the story feel very different to the style of the rest of the game.

The problem I have found after a few hours play is:

You do a Story challenge, which is usually good fun and then your thrown back to doing challenge after challenge to get a certain amount of respect points before you can continue the next part of the story, sometimes this gets very annoying as you want to just get stuck in with the story as its more fun, but you keep having to go back and do the challenges, they would have been better as optional extras.

The music is really rubbish from what I have heard, the only good tune I have noticed was on the very first part when you are a rabbit, the game has 300 songs I think but I dont think much of it.

Overall it is a good game and I am putting a bit of time in here and there gradually progressing through it.

Put a couple of hours into this last night, still enjoying it. I don't really mind having to build up your respect before moving on as that's what I'd be doing anyway. I agree about the soundtrack, not very good at all, but kudos to Indie Built for putting some unsigned bands on there.

What I realised last night was there are seven resorts, each as massive as the first one, so it's really a HUGE game. Gonna take a while to get through this one.

So, whats the bets bet, 44.99 for this or get Amepd 2 (new to Amped) for 14.99???

I hear that has the Live side, and can be run at 720p, is this true?!?
