Outrun 2006: Coast2Coast

Just Traded in Kameo (which i thought was resonably entertaining) for this today and its SO awesome!

I think i got a good trade. I much prefer this more forgiving version of Outrun 2 to the original xbox port. I love all the new tweaks, the slipstreaming, the new courses, the new single player mode, the list goes on. Amazing game.

I bought the xbox version but i was undecided which version to buy. I only own a LCD HDTV now and am running my xbox version via RGB. The problem is that prog scan content looks MUCH better on my TV compaired to interlaced (yes my xbox isn't modded and i don't want to mod it).

So the question is - is it really true that there isn't much difference between the PS2 and Xbox version? I find that hard to believe. I could make use of the prog scan output of the ps2 version but surely the xbox version is technicaly more impressive?

It still looks good on xbox, maybe a little blurry.
I can hope that one day it will work on the 360.

I was amazed how well this looks on XBOX.

I thought i'd be dissapointed after playing on XBOX360 through my monitor with VGA then going back to a RGB scart picture.

I think it still holds up because the colours are so clean and bright.

Good God this is good! PSP seems to be holding its own. I see what you mean about the slight frame rate issues. Anyone else experienced the momentary screen freeze at the very start of the OR2 course? It's the only time it appears to occur. SOL - you deserve your holiday, mate

Loving this so far, totally awesome. One question though; is there a way of making the music non-****? It's all coming through the centre speaker and there is zero bass through the sub. And yes, all my other games work perfectly with 5.1 including Outrun 2 which I just tried and sounds so much better.

EDIT. Seems much better in Outrun 2 SP mode over Single Player > Outrun 2 SP mode. Very weird.

use soft mod to run enigma screenmode selection program then you can select to use ntsc mode on your xbox.

Im loving it but dont really know the Outrun 'way' yet.

Can you get 'super' starts anyhow?

Also how you you get AAA in the drift? I can get AA but no triple.

All tips are most appreciated.

AAA in drift is easy, just start drifting before the start line and keep the rift going till the end line. Never ever failed to get a AAA in the drift challenges

Use manual transmission too. You have much more control over the car, and can use the gears to adjust speed and therefore position mid-corner.

Use the softmod workaround. All it'll cost you is around ?15 for the Xbox USB Key (or you can make your own) and that you have a copy of Splinter Cell or Mechassault. Once you've enabled the HD options, theres no problems with Xbox Live or that.

It's really straightforward, and 100% worth the results for 480p Outrun goodness! A few games even run in "next-gen" 720p like Amped 2 and Soul Calibur 2.

Have anyone check for PAL version on region coding for XBOX. Just like to know. As I have US XBOX and modded XBOX set to R1 (Don't need R2 for online) and R2 PAL 360.

has anyone had any slight pausing on the psp version. it generally happens on the first track on the normal outrun 2. i have seen it happen on other ones but i cant remember which ones they were. its very distracting. overall its what outrun 2 should have been when it was first release and the psp version is amazing. well done sumo!
