Battlefield 2: Modern Combat 360

It's interesting reading the comments in here - I played BF2MC to death on the XBox when it came out and they have changed nothing apart from the graphics - the lack of private rooms was a complete PITA.
It's a fun game, but it quickly gets tiresome if you get bogged down with snipers, stuck with crap vehicle pilots, or on a team who can't work together.
I'm amazed at how identical the two games are - and why people didn't fall for BF2MC on the PS2/Xbox, when they immediately lept on the next-gen version. Obviously, for the nice 360-exclusive features, but it had a chance to be so much more, it seems.

Originally posted by MythI swear F.E.A.R is meant to be a straight port where Battlefield is completly new version (compaired with PC) so I don't really get where your coming from there mate.
It's as if your blaming the system for the game not being your cuppa tea where to be fair it's the console version on the whole.
may i remind you of the ****e quake 4 conversion.
may i also add that i love battlefield as a game, but i wont hide my dissapointment when we get a quality game like oblivion, and then lazy conversions like far cry and bf2mc.
if people are happy to accept last generation ports and pay ?50 quid for them, fine.......i however expect more from the supposedley all-powerful 360(pc version SHOULD have been just as easy to port, and thats what worries me).Last edited by sputnick; 17-04-2006, 19:42.

i just cant get into this game, i played it a little today but really didnt have a clue as to what to really do in terms of what weapons, go on foot or not, which way to go etc. i love games like graw and this does seem really good but does it have like a really steep learning curve or something? everyone seems so good at it when i play online. i dont know how to do half the things they do..like parachuting, attaching mines to vehicles, sniper points etc. it all seems a little initimdating and i quickly put it off after 45 minutes..

Originally posted by EvilBorisThats the thing though, Battlefield 2 would of been a fairly old game by the time they had ported it to the the 360, why no just port the version that had been developed with consoles in mind and is fairly fresh in peoples minds. BF2 could of been ported to 360 without any loss of quality, but that would of cost alot more money than doing the MC version.
360 games are expensive, and i dont see why it would have been more expensive to do a pc conversion??
and "last generation consoles in mind" is more like it!!

The 360 came just a month after they had released the ps2 and Xbox version, where would the financial sense in spending x million quid on porting one game (which didn't sell that well on the consoles) to work on one other console, which only a relatively small amount of people own.
You can bet your boots that we will see another BF game on the 360, but the reasons for them not spending too much more on a next gen version 6 months into the consoles Life is obvious. ITS EA FOR GOODNESS SAKE :PLast edited by EvilBoris; 18-04-2006, 12:28.

I have to say that regardless of what/where/when and for how much it was ported from, I am REALLY enjoying the Live element of this game. Once I'd become familiar with the maps then I really was having a great time. The only bit I dont like is being fired into the middle of a game, but I suppose if the alternative is to have to actually wait *gasp* for a game to start then I'd prefer the first option.
I could care less about it's origins. It reminds me of the enjoyment I had when I played SOCOM 2 online for the first time (my first proper online gaming experience!) - tricky, and frustrating, at first. But after the initial learning curve it's great!
As for the single player game - meh!

I'm yet to play online in the retail version, but this game seems so dark on my TV, so dark that it's sometimes difficult to play. I have cranked my TV up to full brightness too, with no real change. I find myself shooting blindly a lot of the time. It's starting to get annoying enough to warrant a 10-day return.Kept you waiting, huh?

Originally posted by sputnickbut a port of the pc version should have been just as easy, as battlefield 2 pc is a fully finished game, just needed converting.........not an expensive job really.
Or porting a game that is designed in renderware and can be ported in a matter of days
Its obvious which is cheapest and easiest.

Yes, bringing this thread back to life again.
Purchased the game a couple of days ago, and must say I'm having a blast. Although I haven't really had any overly tactical matches, I can see the appeal in gathering a platoon and working together as a team. I've addeed a couple of people I've met online to my friends list, but I'm nowhere near a "squad".
The game really shines when you learn the ins and outs of each map. So far, I would say A Bridge Too Far, The Nest and Back-something-or-other are the most enjoyable maps. I've played around with all the classes, and I've decided to go for the Support class, as I've gotten quite good with the machine gun, if I may say so myself. The vehicle handling isn't too shabby either. If anyone want to play a game, feel free to add me. Just write NTSC-UK in the Friends Request.
