Unlikely Stuck at work recovering 3 months of work lost when my HDD died yesterday

Will be on tonight though. I'll try and stick around till 10 as well. Definitely need some combat against people so I get an idea of what tactics you're all using.

What pilots are you guys using in your matches? Sakurako is my preferred pilot at the moment. I'd like to see if she's actually worth using online though.

I've been using Lili (Cartridge B) non-stop. Her attacks are absolutely lethal.

I flirted with a various rounders and cartridges last night but have yet to find one that feels 'right'... they all have there good points though so a final decision will only come through extended play... I finished playing with Changpo and Mika last night... I have a lot of time for Mikas BOSS form, just need to figure out how to actually use it now

Mika is one of the easiest to use, and he's very powerful aswell.

The best way to use Mika's boss form is quite simply, just to hammer X when they're more in the middle of you, and to use Y when they're more to the sides. Y fires a wide laser that can catch them if they're trying to fly either above or below you.

Also, if they're straight in the middle of you, ram into them with A. Very good attack to use as if any part of you touches them, they get a huge chunk knocked off their health.

Don't forget to use X+Y+A if you're in final boss form.

          --

One thing to know about playing as him in general, is that his missiles have a small stun on them, and if you fire the missiles with the shield button held in, they fly in a different pattern / speed. The moment one of your missiles hits, let loose with your main cannon while they're frozen and you'll force them into using an antifield by taking too much damage.

Eh? Final Boss form?? You mean there is more than 1 BOSS form?

            So... much... still... to learn

So, does the anti-field activate automatically if you are getting leathered?

Same here, Sakurako was the one that jumped out at me, but I'd actually like to play someone before focusing on one pilot.

I gave Changpo and Karel a quick last night as well. They both seemed quite appealing, Changpo for her agility and her sub weapon attacks. Karel for the damage of his primary weapon and ease of use. I'll probably mix between the three tonight.

What I really want to know is how people are making use of the BOSS mode. I might have to spend an afternoon on youtube looking for match vids

EDIT: What Silvergun says below on bosses :P

There's an anti field that you trigger using the BOSS buttons. You can use it during the opponents BOSS mode or if you have no BOSS mode tokens left. Think you need 2 charge bars in order to trigger it.

I also noticed that there is some sort of field emitted if someone really hammers you as well.

                Yep.

If you're taking far too much damage, you'll fly backwards and generate an antifield to give you time to get the hell out.

And yes, there's a final boss form. Looks wise, there's nothing different to your normal boss. I'll explain the differences:

Normal boss, your energy drains quicker, and when the boss runs out, you gain a bit of health proportional to how much health you had left in boss mode.

Final boss mode occurs if you go into boss when your health bar is on VANISH. You can tell, because you get a huge WARNING appear over the screen along with your character, mandatory warning klaxon, etc, and the boss forming is a little bit more dramatic.

In final boss form, your energy drains a LOT slower so you have more time in boss, and you have access to your character's final boss attack, which is basically bullet hell for your opponent. With a lot of characters, it's X+Y+A, but with some characters like Karel it's different.

The downfall is, if your final boss form gets destroyed, then you don't go back to your normal form.... You lose with a spectacular, dramatic explosion.

Am pretty sure its all about the timing of when you go into BOSS mode that is the key... last night before Bleeders took me aside and had a quiet word with me I was either activating the BOSS mode by accident or as a final heroic gesture attempting to take some health off my enemy before I exploded in a rainbow of clour

I learned more in about 12 matches with Bleeders than I would have playing the AI for a week. And as he found out... I learn quick, hehehe

                    Absolutely.

In a lot of matches, it's all down to whoever can slam the boss button down as soon as one of you hits vanish. It might seem like a waste of your boss to use it on someone who only needs one more hit to die, but when you consider it stops them going into final boss....

And take my word for it boys, it IS a beautiful explosion, I saw it many a time last night

I was wondering why my health wasn't regenerating after my BOSS form but Bleeders was... he was timing his use of it better so to gain health, whereas I was activating as final last stand, hehe.

I really am going to enjoy this game even more than I thought

Yeah, I've activated BOSS mode by accident a few times. Mainly because I keep thinking I can trigger the Anti-field whilst I still have BOSS charges. From playing against the AI I noticed it was worth saving at least one charge purely to make sure that your opponent can't trigger BOSS mode when they hit VANISH mode. Not sure how valid that really is though.

EDIT: Damnit Silvergun, stop stealing what I'm about to type in my posts

The key to good boss use, is to use it when your energy bar is on MAX.

Your boss health is higher if you go into boss with a higher energy charge. Likewise, if you time out of boss with more boss health, you gain more health in normal form.

                          Sorry mate.

YES... that is the biggest part of it for me, the position it puts your opponent in. They cant activate their own BOSS at this time so unless they have a full charge gauge for anti-fields and can slide between your weapon fire like a snake then they are pretty much, finished.

One I had last night with ths exact scenario, Bleeders goes into BOSS when I am close to death but I have a good bit of charge so perform some nice anti-fields and evasions to survive it... the next 5 seconds involve me hitting the BOSS button about 47 times to activate it before he gets the one shot that will kill me, hehe. I manage to get BOSS form and close the deal, tremendous battle.

To the uneducated eye the game just looks bonkers... but the depth that is available in the system is amazing.

How do you do this?? You can stop an enemy from going to BOSS mode if you have a single charge??

Pretty sure you mean one boss as opposed to one charge?
