    Is there any depth to the close combat? Or is it just simplistic combo's? Can you actually block someone's hits or is it a case of first person to get in, gets the hits?

      From what i'm aware, simplistic combos only. Characters that don't have good close combat abilities you should stay away from close combat with full stop.

      Lili is by far the best at close combat, even though I think Sakurako's close combat stat is supposedly higher.

        Changpo has some nice CQC stuff aswell... a wee close quarters Y hit on the end of a boost works a treat. Again, I think its all about timing with the CQC stuff but of course folk with higher CQC ratings will be more likely to get the advantage in close.

        If I had could add one thing to the game it would be a rounder that turned into 'Megamaid' from Spaceballs when in BOSS form

            It was. However i'm getting much better results with Lili now. Some of her attacks are just insane.

              There are four variations of close-range attacks according to the order of pushing buttons.
              • Y (Sub only)
              • XY (Main-Sub)
              • XXX (Main-Main-Main)
              • XXY (Main-Main-Sub)

                  Had a few battles against Silvergun tonight and as expected he bounced me off the sides of the arena On the plus side, he did grant me some tips so it wasn't all bad

                  It's a real shame the Live mode doesn't offer a lobby for a few like minded gamers to gather in. Guess I'll have to wait for the next revision

                  Still, good fun all round. Even losing wasn't frustrating. I think you quickly realise that there a certain moments where bullet hell is gonna rain down and there is sod all you can do about it, so you may as well shrug it off and hit the next round.

                    Tremendoes, absolutely tremendous games with Yoshi last night. Starting to get to grips with the use of the charge bar, actually making a dent in your enemies BOSS mode and bringing some of the barrier expansions and special moves into play now. Will be on tonight for some more.

                    Sent you a friend request Silvergun but your friends list was full so it wouldn't go through. got yours Riskbreaker so we can get some nooby games tonight started enjoying Karel a fair bit last night... his sniper rifle is lethal when used correctly expecially against some BOSS modes. Couple it with his Y button power up mode thing and you got one incredibly powerful long range weapon there.

                        I take it back. the single player isn't a walk in the park, all because of an insane hard boss with certain characters. With Cuillian for example her long distance main attack is useless against it, its like an insane shooter. >_<

                          I have plaeyd through the Story moe with most characters now and I find there is always at least 1 attack that works against the space station bos, its just a case of finding it and using it correctly.

                          Appreciating this game more every time I play it, just need to get more time on live with NTSC'ers

                            I cancelled my pre-order at play so I can pick it up from the highstreet today. Simple question to those that have it already: does it have good explosions when someone loses?

                              What a fantastic question there really isn't enough queries like this on here, hehe.

                              The explosions are beautiful and if you are good enough to take someone out while they are in their BOSS form you get some really beautiful fireworks. Visually, the game is a treat.

                                im not on about the space station one, the spacestation is a piece of piss. but i did find a superplay last night for the character im using. Which you can view below, i didn't know you could use her shield as a weapon. >_<
