    Case File 4-1 into 4-2

I have just met the girl on the motorbike and had a fight with her. Like the others, it was easy but occasionally abit frustrating. The story is flowing well though, and now I need to wait til midnight to meet up with Carlos/Carlito or whatever his name is. Another boss fight perhaps, or just some information..

    Cons in the Jeep.
I have got 3 sniper rifles now and I tried to take them out but its pretty damn tough! I'll wait til morning again I think to see if I can kill them. Hopefully they'll stay did this time. BTW, if I use up these sniper rifles (that i got from a mission) are they readily availble in the mall somewhere?

Any idea on how to get better endings?

To DC Arena You can get the sniper rifle

in a gunshop in the north plaza (it's tucked out the way so follow the signs). There's a boss there first, so be prepared mate.

          Cheers Strider

If you were wondering, I got mine

by taking out the three guys who were picking people off, it was a mission on Day 2. Speaking of which I just realised there was a character in a shop during that battle I was supposed to take back to security! **** the bed this game is hard!

I could maybe make it across alone without getting shot to death and run over, but each time you have to offer the survivor a shoulder it takes too damn long. Going from the clown set piece to this piece of **** is heart breakingly frustrating. Somebody tell me there is a way around meeting those inbreed guncrazy jeeparse wankers PLEASE!!!111!!!!111!!1!
Clown as in the one at the rollercoaster? the dude I saved off that showed a shortcut through the womens toilets that takes you right out near the security office so I don't have to go outside anymore

Its David who was hurt and hiding in the North Plaza that I'm trying to get back to the Security Office - he has been a great help in allowing me to safely explore that area (found the sword shop and tooled up) but there is simply no way of getting across the park with him. As soon as we step out the door the jeep of death is upon us

Capcom games can be cruel, not letting you progress until you have learnt something important, but arn't the best at letting you know what that something is >_<

It's probably a silly question as I'm still on my first game. When you do a certain case file and then restart (whether by ending the game or dying and starting again) do you need to re-do every case file to progress further? So if I got up to Case mission 4 and then did nothing else, would I have to do mission 1-3 the next time I play in order to get to Case mission 5? Or would missions 1-4 still be complete and then I have lots of time to do bonus missions until it's time to start the next Case file

I'm sure this has been discussed LOTS before, but that's a lot of posts to read back through so please bear with me. I've just died for the first time, am i right in thinking that if i save staus and quit it here, it 'll send me right back to the beginning of the game?? I assume then i'd start over, but with my character at the Level i got him to?
Is that how it works, or have i totally misundersood the premise? And is it only the Case Files that are the essential missions so to speak, they take priority?

That's odd, because with me it alway starts off driving around in the middle of the park.

I've always found it relatively easy to go around the outside of the park rather than through the middle as they stuck on a tree or in the shelters leaving you free to leg it. In fact 99% the only way I know they're there is by hearing the accompanying music.

Not sure that helps you Spags (sorry)

Yes, you have to do them all again every time.

Yes, you start over from the beggining of the game but Frank will be whatever level he was when you died and saved.

I'm not sure which one that is as that can happen in various ways.

Slight spoilers follow but I've kept them to the bare minimum.

Essentially the ways to get the endings are:

                    1) Fail the cases but be at the heliport on Day Three (a so-so ending).

                    2) Complete the cases and be at the heliport at Day Three (the best ending IMO)

                    3) Fail / Complete the cases (doesn't really matter which) and not be at the heliport at Day Three

                    4) Fail Overtime mode by not being quick enough

                    5) Complete Overtime Mode (this is the games `True Ending`)

                    6) Fail to collect all the devices in the maintenance tunnels missions

I think that's all the combinations

Ah, I've just found David now, I used the shortcut I'd already opened up in the toilet to get him back. If you've beaten I think it's Adam the clown, Greg is someone you save on the rollercoaster, he works with Otis I believe, so he knows the mall layout and so introduces you to the shortcut, I don't know if you have to save him to be able to use the shortcut though. It's in the Wonderland Plaza Female toilets above the sinks, it takes you back to Paradise Plaza, just how it works I don't know, but I'm guessing you'll need to use that route to get David free.

I've jus started on Case 2 now, OMG this game is teh awesomeness!

Sorry if this has been asked already, but the whole save/restart thing is confusing me, and I want to be sure before I screw owt up!

Under what circumstances would I lose my levels gained? A new game will always keep them, right? Are they kept after completing the game every time too? The only time I'd lose them is if I reload an earlier save, which would probably only knock off a couple anyway, is the way I figure it. Not sure if I'm right though!

If you die and select to continue you'll carry on where you died but from level 1 again.

I think anyway, can't say I've actually tried that yet!

Thanks Spatial. I'm not sure how to proceed then

I thought I would only have to do the case missions once and then the rest of time (when I start again) could be used for side missions and bonus stuff.

I didn't realise i was meant to save somebody on the rollercoaster - but I guess that makes sense, forgot all about the reason for going down there after enjoying the Adam the Clown cut scene.

Ran out of time trying to get back across the park to begin Case 2 so it was game over and I've started again for the 3rd time. I guess I suck at this

The case missions do get easier the more you play it. Once you know what's coming, where you have to be and when (and Frank is powered up too), you'll spend more time mashing zombies than doing cases. In fact the main story is quite short all things told, it's just the time between cases that stretches it out and makes it feel longer.

The golden rule to remember with Dead Rising is that you can't do or see everything the game has in one go. You have to play it more than a few times to see everything and even when at the top power level you still have to pick and choose carefully what you want to do within the time limits.

It's been designed that way in quite a deliberate fashion and once the player comes to terms with this and plays the game the way Capcom wanted it to be played, rather than the way they feel it should be, it becomes a lot easier.

I think the biggest problem is that the game looked sandbox all this time but it isn't. It's different from what everyone's expected for so long (right up to the demo), that it does take a while to adjust.

                                Yep, Pete's right.

But given that Prestige Points and the attributes at higher levels are often essential to playing properly, I'd urge anyone to think twice before chucking them away at the press of a button. Stripped of all those increased skills and abilities, you may not last very long anyway
