My PAL version arrived today (thanks Gameplay). Someone bought the game yesterday (in Holland) and did not particularly like it. I have spent all day (pretty much) playing mine. Now have the fourth route accessible and am around 25-30% complete. No complaints here. The PAL version looks to be the NTSC version as it has an American style certificate symbol in the game.

Managed to get a good 3hrs on this last night and as a massive fan of every version, i'm a bit disappointed. Everything from previous versions seems to be in place but i'm not that impresssed with the technical end of things; the music was always a key factor in previous games and the thumping techno/rock/metal beats of Shutokou 0 & 2, hahave been replaced with piddly pop beats. The music is limited too with very few tracks on offer. Graphically looks decent in 720p but i really do think this could have been done on an xbox; 30 fps as opposed to the lush/super smooth 60fps of previous versions. I also noticed some pop up!
No weather conditions or external animation (previous versions had rail cars/monorails/planes) neither.
What is good is that the gameplay seems to be sightly improved and there are some nice car models. Saying all that, its well worth a purchase.

Having a quick go now, I like it but I don't know why.
There is no feeling of speed yet and im not enjoying it as much as the previous games but it is quite hypnotic in a way.
There is no one on live tho just a few yanks wath cars so suped up they beat me in 5 seconds lolLast edited by dvdmike; 06-10-2006, 21:56.

Sounds good overall, look forward to getting it very soonLast edited by MikeRox; 06-10-2006, 22:08.

I always turn the music off, in any racing game for that matter. I'd much prefer to hear the song coming from the engine
Anyway, picked this up today. Only had a quick blast but I liked what I saw. I think the visuals are actually pretty good, especially the lighting. The addition of a cockpit view is welcomed to, but I just wish it had the slight head motion that PGR3 had, oh and that the look function wasn't so ridgid.

Had some truly horrendous slowdown earlier - racing against the 4 car team (think its called Speed King) the framerate was approaching single digits, just threw the handling off completely. Had another race against the same team and the framerate was ok ... very weird
just beat Bloodhound, and bought myself a Stage 3 engine ... becoming very attached to my Fairlady Z

Only raced for a few hours but already those few hours felt like moments. I guess that just reiterates what a few folk have been saying about it being hypnotic in a way. I find it odd that I can enjoy tuning games like this but go anywhere near a Juiced or Need For Speed Underground and I turn into a quivering wreck and can't touch the achine until it's been thoroughly quarantined.
Started with the Nissan S15 Silvia and got a few upgrades on it but it's mostly stock at present.
