I mean no offense, but are editing teams, transfers and saving replays "the very basics of PES/WE games"?

I've been playing ISS/WE/PES since '98, and I think I've saved a replay once. Editing teams and transfers are useful, but surely it is all about the gameplay?

Of course, it is odd that features in the PS2 version and not in the 360 version. But I think I'd take HD, widescreen and Live any day.
Editing teams, transfers and saving replays should be very basic on PES6 when it was with PES5 (and also erlier PES-games). Yes, HD, widescreen and Live are good stuff, but they're not there to replace the other options, they're there to give is the next gen-feel to the game. And personally, I would take edting teams, transfers and saving replays over HD and widescreen (though, that might be because I'm playing on an old Samsung 28" 4:3). Live on the other hand, is another basic thing, and thank god they didn't leave that out, though, on the other hand, they didn't exactly improve it.

But of course, if editing teams, transfers and saving replays are less important than HD, widescreen and Live, then the 360-version should be the best option for you. That said, I wouldn't be without the 360-version even if I really miss editing teams, transfers and saving replays, though, I will buy the PC-version as well.

Fair enough but if you think a game bereft of that many features is worth ?39.99 then fair play to you...

I'm talking gameplay terms only. They play differently. PS2 is a faster, more fluid game. Dunno, why they just didnt make the 360 the same. You really need to try both. I personally prefer my gameplay to be like PS2 version, afterall that's what I'm used to after playing so many versions of it. The 360 version is a bit more like a simulator. Maybe I need more time to get used to it?

I agree. I have rented both to try them out. I will persevre with the 360 cos it looks so much better on my 26" Samsung LCD, the PS2 looks ****e by comparison (even with component leads) but hey ho, its the playabilty that counts!

I dont mean finding a game, I had no problems with that at all. I'm talking about the delayed controls, and the unplayable slowdown which renders the power bar during freekicks and corners useless. If you think thats gonna get fixed/better then you're mistaken.

The only issues people really had was finding a game. Creating a game and inviting a friend works with no problems but i'm in full agreement with dlittley. The live play is absolutely broken and it's not server issues etc like some people seem to think for some reason. There will never be a patch as Konami just aren't the type of publisher to bother with one. Offline play on Evo 6 360 is very good. Live play has a lot of issues with player switching delay , slowdown on free kicks which actually means you can't really gauge the power correctly. When an opposing player takes a free kick and their vew chugs, YOU also see it when you're trying to move your defenders around. Shocking really. The main reason I play Evo is for Live play against mates, this is unacceptable so we've all gone back to Evo 5 now. Obviously for local play with a few of you in one room Evo 360 is still good.

Well despite my initial comments being negative - partly due to personal cynacism and illness - this is starting to grow on me a bit. Just upset by the lack of PES shop and training challenges now...

I THINK I have found a way around the problem of finding games...

It seems to me that if I I am having problems I return back to the PES main menu and then back in to live again and then I can play games fine. It also worked for 3 people on my friends list who had similar problems.

I tend to do that after each game I play now. Its not the greatest solution but at least it means i can actually play the game.

My feelings on the game are mixed. I like that the endless string of free kicks has gone but I do find the through ball a little too easy, a bit like PES4 to me. Also I think dispossessing players of the ball is tricky when they are running in to the box at angles. I found I was able to get in to the box at will in some games last night. But this is probably justa matter of getting used to the change in pace of the game and changing defence a bit. i currently find that 90% of my sliding tackles end in blatant yellow card offences. Something which I never had problems with in 5.

But, due to the laggy power bars scoring can be another issue. But I assume this is solvable.

The biggest problem is the slow down at free kicks and goal kicks which I assume is due to large parts of the 3D stadium being in view and rendered, could be wrong. But thats the only thing I can assume is causing it.

There is often sowdown a second or so before the end of halfs, when a goal has been kicked but is not in the net and just after fouls. Again, I think these are down the the game getting replays or other things loaded. I worry about this as I'm not sure it seems patchable.

I'm hoping so though. There are two games that I play regularly and for a full year until the next release. Pro Evo and Madden. The latter has already proved to be so broken that I can't see myself playing it for much longer than the league I am in being complete so I have a lot of hopes for Pro Evo. I really don't want to have to turn to Fifa!

It's these factors that have upset me the most. For an extra tenner, Konami have given us less options, features and rewards. Gee thanks.

I think you could be right. The online mode on the PC version doesn't give you a choice of stadium, it just gives you one stadium and the crowd is reduced to that of a mid-week Carling Cup clash at MK Dons, but it does make for an infinitely smoother online experience.

Again, this smacks of a lack of playtesting by Konami and given the amount of hype and **** from Seabass is purely not on.

to put my 2 pennies worth into the debate had a few games on the PS2 and 360 version now and the 360 version is going back to the shop.

as many people have mentioned PES has always been a feel game and the 360 version just feels wrong to me, its slower, unresponsive and although shinier, to my eyes the movement of the players in the PS2 game seems more lifelike, the 360 players seem to hunch along like forward moving crabs.

almost everything i have grown to love about the feel of a great football game in PES seems to be missing in the 360 game, it just feels frustrating and stodgy in comparison to the PS2.

as an old hand at pro evo you expect a steep learning curve every year but the 360 seems too far removed from the basics of PES to me so I don't want to be bothered with it, whereas PS2 feels like what I expect every year from the update.

a missed opportunity, plus i'm never convinced the 360 pad will be up to it, a bit of a worry as i believe the PS3 pad now has triggers instead of the R2 L2 buttons.

There's slightly less travel on the PS3 triggers than the 360 ones.

Interesting how this game has polarised a lot of people - It has finally started to grow on me a bit but I also witnessed the PS2 version yesterday and whilst it looked terrible it did seem to play a more flowing and less stunted game than the 360 one.

Had a good few games online now mostly with me hosting and they've not been bad at all for lag with the exception of the power bar problem.
