    Football Manager 2007 (Full Game)

Well, thought since the other thread on FM was for the demo I would kick off a full game one. Picked this up last night and started my Celtic game installation takes an age as always but the smoothness of the game when it is running is reward for this.

Everything seels more responsive, loading between days, interaction during games, it all rattles along at a very responsive rate so it looks like they have tweaked some of the technical performance bits to get the game running at its fastest and this is something which I felt they have overlooked in the past but have nailed here.

Now the good stuff initially looking at some of my players I wasn't happy with their stats but after a few weeks of the season they have already moved up to what I would have expected them to be. Whether this is through my new training routines or just the game balancing player stats out to what they should be I dont know but the fact is EVERYONE is represented in this game as you would want them to be and the possibilities as always are endless

So far the only bit of business I have done was a swap deal of Stephen Pearson for Fulhams Zat Knight, which I am quite pleased with as I was looking to strengthen the defence a bit. Only got ?1million for transfers so will need to be shrewd unless can offload some people to get cash in. Stared with a 3-5-2 but now settling into my favoured 4-4-2 with the wide men in attackng positions. Will take a bit of time to get this fomration working at its best but think Celtic def have the players to accomodate it.

Media interaction has increased ten fold with the press now approaching you much more frequently, before games, after games, about transfers, about player expectations, etc, it really does add another layer of depth to this element, which in previous versions was often quite light. The player interaction additions are brilliant and you really get the feeling you can actually affect these guys individually now. Another addition worthy of mention is the drastically improved scouting system which now gives you some really great methods of tracking players and getting detailed assessments. The Scout will even tell you what he things would be an ideal offer to make for a player if he agress with it, fantastic.

So, my Celtic team is coming together and I am so happy with the way the stats on these guys has startd to move to where I would expect them to be. Its almost as if the game knows what I was thinking.

Every version of FM makes me happy but this one seems to have more things going on than I could have dreamed of. Another fantastic addition to the series and one that finally seems to have delivered everything I could want. There are gonna be some late nights coming up, hehehe.

    Absolutely perfect!!

Is Celtic having a transfer budget of only one million realistic? If you start some more games, could you post the starting budgets please.

Genuine question. I have both managers on PSP, and while I prefer FM to CM, the ludicrously IMO small transfer budgets make the early part of the first season more tiresome than it needs to be.

But in some cases that is how the club actually is and I would rather take over a club with realistic details than have a false inflated transfer budget. I suppose since Celtic did already spend a good bit of money and you have the players from that ?1million is fair but would have been good to get a wee bit more to play with, small gripe but more on Celtic than the actual game

The biggest thing for me is that at first it looked like some players were nowhere near the quality they should have been but their stats seem to have sorted themselves out now we are into the season and stuff.

Can't wait to get started with this. It arrived yesterday but my new Mac arrives today so i've somehow managed to hold off on installing it quite yet.

Like Mardigan says, Celtic spent a fair bit on fees this summer, so I guess 1M is accurate enough. Them's the breaks if you're going to manage a team in the SPL I guess!

Who you gonna start a game with?

There is absolutely no money in any of the Scottish teams at the start which is kind of right I suppose so hopefully do well this season and have a budget for next season. No way am selling some of my best players to get cash as they are all young and are gonna be great. McGeady and Maloney are already looking brilliant with their stats and value going up

            Probably Rangers :-) Sorry!

What countries are you running leagues from?

I've heard 2007 is very tough, but i found with 2006 that the wages proved to be a pain in the bum after 4 or 5 seasons. Even being able to afford or attract certain players wasn't too much of a problem, but their wage demands meant I often had no choice but to sell them on.

Once I get a feel for it, it would be good to take charge of some lesser team and try to bring them back up the tables, but I guess even that will be tougher in the SPL.

What a fantastic game this is.

It's unebelievable once again. This and PES are the only games I play until the new one comes out.

With FM2007 now having an established engine (ie the since the upgrade from CM4 to FM2005), and this being the 3rd incarnation of that game, all the bugs are narly out. It's beautiful.

I always start my games in the lower depths...I was tinkering with starting unemployed for the ultimate challenge but plumped for Southport instead. I bought FM2006 on the day it was released and I only ever had 1 game - can you beleive that? I was like in 2050 and Micahel Owen was coming to work in his hover car (for coaching that is)...it ws gutting to stop playing it a couple of weeks ago.

              I love everything about FM2007.

The hugely increased player interaction and media interaction - the increased usefullness of scouting and the assistant manager reports.

I love you can give 3 team talks during a game, and the new feeder club/parent club system is boss. Crewe have helped me out no end in the Conference (currently 2nd in January - with a board target of avoiding relegation from the Conference).

I love the new range of 'targets' and feelings from the fans and board.

The new sounds in the 2d view are great ie. booing specific players.

The default skin is also amazing, as are the graphics: (http://footballmanagergraphics.co.uk.../complogos.htm for more stuff ).

Overall it's brilliant, and will keep me entertained for a lifetime.

I am one game into the league and it was 2-1 victory away at St Mirren. Delighted with the result as came from 1-0 down even havin just played the pre season and single league game I can see it being tougher but not in a negative way. Tougher in a way that you feel great about getting that narrow win and as aresult a much more rewarding experience. I can already see my first season being an absolute beauty.

I have ran all the Scottish and Englsih leagues in full detail with the large database and all seems to be ticking along lovely. Thats the setting I always use as you get enough detail from the other nations anyway.

Celtic seem to have a really solid platform for bringing players through like McGeady, Maloney, Sno, etc so am really glad they are represented as you would expect. Sno look like he is going to be a cracker and is already cementing himself in my plans listen to me talking, I am wearing a sheepskin coat and barking orders from the dugout already, hehehe, I Football Manager!!

Hehehe. TBH, starting as Rangers manager will be really tough as there is so many unknown elements with the squad and will be hard to set things straight for them... be good though for any Rangers fan to ge tore into it and can also see the Celtic game being very interesting.

For me the Celtic game is all about realising the potential of players like McGeady, Maloney, Beattie and Sno, that is where the reward is gonna come from, bringing these boys through to be stars for Celtic and go on to win things. Can stop thinking about it. So glad am off work Monday and Tuesday so can rattle into it.

I think the wages are a bit more generous at Parkhead too just now, but I'm not sure if that's been carried over in to the game.

My Mac has just arrived at last! Time to get it unpacked and get FM installed. Wife is away for the weekend too, so its great timing.

Think it has carried into the game as some of the players are in nice money, Gravesen on ?45,000 a week!! But the budget for new players wages is tight, which is fair enough given who they have brought in. Its fair enough that funds are low since there are new players already there for you so can live with it.

Thompson is on silly money so I might look at shipping him off to free up some wage funds as he will only be a bit part player this season I think, not sure though, might give him a final glory seasonand play him a fair bit, aint decided yet.

Just wish I was home playing it now.

starting off at newcastle with 800,000 is fair i guess after the summer, gives me a chance get rid of the dead wood and sign a few players.

i seen on player search professionals are tutoring other players, how can you do this?

That something I was wanting to know but couldn't find the option in Player interaction or training. Gonna consult the manual tonight to find out as Gravesen is the perfect tutor for Sno and it will really bring his game on learning from that bald mad man, hehe.
