fm2007 grumbles

hi all,

have started game with Celtic - grumbles, no money to spend (1m), frequency of injuries, however not doing to bad with team currently 2nd (1 point behind Rangers) with 22 games gone.

other grumbles - no facepack for English Prem League or Club Badges, thought i am sure they will available for downloading

- not sure about new prematch teamtalk - why aint there a "i am confident in your abilities to win" whereas " i expect a win " puts pressure on the team.

updates are surely on the way though this is a much better finished article than FM2006.

Couple of problems....

1. The number of sendings-off for things like pushes, kicks & headbutts is ridiculous. seems to be a pretty major bug tbh. There's almost one every couple of games and on 3 times there's been more than one sending off in the opposition team for that. Played Palermo away and they finished with 8 on the pitch. Barca finished one CL game with 7 men.

2. Is there a way to praise your whole team for their performances? I know you can od it for individual players, but some are complaining that I don't give them enough credit. There's only 5 or 6 options for your team talk so its pretty difficult!

Ascender, the option to praise (or indeed shout at) your whole team is right there above where you would praise them individually.

Edited to say: Nope, still can't see it! I'm on the main squad screen and would like to praise the team's recent performances. Manager interaction just lets me say something about previous opponents.

Player interaction lets me say something to the press about individuals, but I can't see anything to praise/criticise the whole team.

Sorry, I've confused things. I was meaning praising them to the media rather than just a team talk.

Ah, I know what it is... you cant praise the entire team as a whole through the media, you can only do it for the whole team at the end of a good result and you get the option to issue a team statement on how they done. You cant issue a "Team" statementdirect from the media.

And best not to praise every player individually at the same time through the media as your praise will then be seen as worthless since you are throwing it about willy nilly

Best thing is to praise team at post match talk if they do well and then every now and again or when their form warrants it release a statement to the press saying you are delighted with someone individually.

Thanks Mardigan. I'm finding it a bit of a tough balancing act to keep them all happy. Not enough and they complain. Too much and they complain. Give them slight grief after a poor result and they're unhappy that they don't like the way I talk to them on match day! Just seems to be a bit all or nothing with the way its been implemented.

Never mind, the might Gers are on a 14 match winning streak and Celtic are tailing in our wake! But also the wake of Hearts and Dundee Utd!

Seems to be a lot of take-overs in the game too.

Rangers do seem really strong in this one which goes against what you would expect but hey, its my job to turn it around, hehe. And with the massive cash injection that Peter Lawell has funded after his take over its looking good for next season.

Takeovers do seem to happen a fair bit but it is with teams you woudl expect it to. At first after Lawell took over Celtic he offered me a contract extension but only 1m transfer budget but after a few weeks on new contract and with me making loads of cash in my first season I asked for more funds to be made available and he made them available right away. I now have 8m to spend and am gonna be in great shape for all competitions next season.

I always seem to get the player interaction pretty much spot on, which is great. I only praise players in the media if they are on exceptional form and make a point of commenting on the game after every game. Its a hard balance to get but when you do the players really pull for you.

Only dissappointment for me in first season has been the riduculous form of Rangers. Undefeated all season in the league, not much I could do about them taking the title but its mine next season

Yeah, I don't understand why the Rangers team is so strong. i think it might be to do with some of the players they've signed and the younger lads they are playing - maybe their potential stats are quite high, but whereas in real life they're struggling, they're flourishing in the game.

Really enjoying the game though. its a wee bit annoying at some of the transfer fees being demanded by other Scottish clubs though. I think I'll be needing to get a cash injection of some description before next season to strengthen.

Just finished my second season with Arsenal and everything is going well except for the little matter of my empty trophy cabinet. Successive 2nd place finishes in the league have been the highlight but my team hasn't managed to progress past the quarterfinal stage of any cup competition which is troubling.

Anyway I have the board's backing so roll on 2008/2009.

Got myself a miserable cold this weekend so have just gone out and picked this up for a combined day of management and PES 6. Just installing now in readiness for my job as Spurs manager. Will let you know how i get on!

Quick question - why does it now show the player pictures on my game?! I have the option tunred on in preferences but i just get nothing. Am i missing something?

Turn off the 'Use skin cache' in the display section of the options menu and see if that helps.

Bear in mind though that not all of the players have pics anyway.

It doesnt seem like they many pictures at all from what ive seen so far. Bit lame but not the end of the world
