Have to agree. Got mine today and it changes the game.

From someone wh has never really played a VF before, what's the best way to become a half decent player.
Dojo,or just practice, making note of what im pressing?

And are there moves/commands along the lines of the SF series,or is this more left punch right guard etc.....

Does VF4/Evo work on PS3 ? If so, I'd get that Nick - You'll learn more from an hour with its practice mode than any other method known to man !

As somebody who'd played every preceeding VF before 4 it was a revelation to me - Levels of depth I never even realised existed !!!

Have to say I find the Hori Fighting Stick 3 absolutely brilliant for this game.

It's compact and the snappiest thing since Kung-Fu Master.

          One problem...

I'm trying to pull off Pai's Sokushin Toushou move in time trial.

It says I must punch 'from offensive move'

What the hell does that mean??? What offensive move? I've tried every permutation I can think of

Please help so I can take it off pause!

It's when you sidestep, and immediately after the sidestep has begun, press P+K+G.

            I think, anyway. [/n00b]

Yeh that's what it is. Defensive move is a quick tap up or down so you sidestep, but then if you tap P+K+G immediately after you dash in and that's the Offensive move. And everyone has a special punch and kick + combos out of those moves. I was wondering myself when I came across it in the command training for the first time.
It's new to VF5 I think, but then I'm no Virtua Fighter expert. Getting right into this though.

                Thanks for the help guys.

Well after working through time attack I can see why the official stick might be better.

Some of the moves require absolute perfect precision so any increase in accuracy however minor would be important.

Think i'm a year or two away from anything approaching that level though, so for anyone but the pro's I still reckon the Hori is a really great stick.

My final time attack time was about 45 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got my High Grate stick from VGI yesterday. Quality is so good I feel like I own the arcade machine. And it's huge. Even makes the PS3 look dainty.

Now I just need to get used to playing VF with a stick again (reajusting is harder than I thought). Got a royal shoeing in Quest Mode last night, but I feel the balance will tip the other way soon.

Only problem I have with this game is, when playing in Quest Mode and a tournament comes up, it's a bit unclear how to engage it (I've missed out on a fair few by choosing the wrong option in auto-pilot).

Was playing this in the arcades at the weekend, and have come to the conclusion (short of very good persuasion to the contrary) that Akira ****s up the game balance. He can down 5/6 hit floating combos now for christ's sake.

I play as Shun Di, and whilst I'm not brilliant, I only ever get beat THAT badly by Akira players. Every other char, even played by the best I run into in Akiba, I at least have a fighting chance - but Akira just ****s me up.

I'm aware he is hard to use, but it still ticks me off.

Ryo Hazuki should have been in this as a hidden player, but he wasn't.

From what I've read on VFDC Shun Di is a lot more powerful in VF5 and Akira's toned down a bit. I think the last three Major tournaments in Japan have been won by a Kage team, a Shun Di player and a Lei fei player.

Akira always could do big combos. Maybe the Akira players you faced were of a higher standard?

Hmm, I'm coming from VF2. Akira was all about single, powerful timely hits - as well as sequential buffer combos like the infamous SPoD. I preferred him that way; not everyone should have floating combos.

Just got this today...what can I say?

This looks...absolutely stunning, I can't even describe it. Plays like a dream and looks mind-blowing.

                              Thumbs way up!

Is this worth getting if you already gave Tekke DR on PS3 and does it still have a mad sega moments when the cpu,s AI would just kick in and lick you all over the place without being able to block a single move till your flat on your back looking at the sky?
