I have the US version and haven't even started it yet. Never been very good at fighters so not sure if I will bother with this or not

Depends on what style of fighter you like really, I think its a far far better game and looks and feels far superior to Tekken.

I'd say although the single player mode has the quest stuff its probably only worth getting if you've someone to play it against.

It's worth getting purely to look at, it's stunning. Tekken looks brilliant too but this is on a whole new level for me. My mate reckoned Tekken DR was better so I asked him "Well why are you still playing this then, you could be playing Tekken?" and he didn't know, so it must have something.

I found it easy up til a certain dude handed me my ass over and over...so I guess yeah, it still has that

I dont know if the game is defaulted to an easier option but i find that the fighters are less taxing than on Virtua Fighter 4 Evo. I mean i seem to stand a chance with dural on VF5, whereas in VF4 Evo, two small mistakes and the match is over! Its like they've lowered the difficulty a notch.

Has anyone noticed this? Something i was indeed impressed with was when i fought against Vanessa, she staggered me with a knee and my character staggered to teh side and she instantly ran to me to do a throw. Infact she ran towards me straight after the stagger. Talk about quick!

ok so i shouldnt be suprised but i was so there

I SO luv Shun's stage, it pays homage to his VF2 days, sigh..........

So, how does everyone have their stick setup? I only picked this up yesterday and I jumped straight into an arcade game with Eileen (Don't know why but I've intended on playing with her since I saw her), managed to get through a couple of rounds before getting my ass kicked by Aoi. I've never played a VF game before.

I've left the stick at default, so top left and top middle are used for punch and kick respectively, bottom left is guard (I'll use that at some point, I'm sure ). That's all fine, but I find I'm maybe getting the timing wrong on the simultaneous button presses, so wasn't sure if I should make some effort to get the combo (P+K, P+G, P+K+G etc...) buttons accessible or not?

I'm also struggling with the timing a bit, particularly with the QCF/QCB commands - which I can pull off with a pad on SF games to perfection.

So, yeah any thoughts on how best to setup the stick along with some basic tips would be cool.

you have the normal stick setup as far as i know, just go into practise mode and practise the moves and strings for double attacks so you get a better feel for them(the thing with having 3 fingers on the three action buttons kinda makes using the combobuttons obsolete). imho vf has a much friendlier move recognition system, you don't have to input them as fast as you can so just relax on the input, just remember to input the action button on the last input of the command, not after.

eileen is a pretty hard character to grasp at first, especially those cancelly thingies inbetween her strings, just try out various characters maybe you'll find one that feels more playable at first.

Cool, thanks for that. I think I'm hitting the action button too early in general to be honest - which was backed up by the command list when I had it switched on, though I found it a little off putting.

I might try another character, although I'll miss the hot pants.

The AI is about brain dead in PS3 VF5. It's one of many shortcomings of 5 in and out of the arcade, it's no wonder why few people play it in Japan anymore.

Apparently, the London Trocodero Arcade has a VF5 cab.

Anybody know if the UK version of this works in SD on an NTSC PS3? I know a few games don't.

Also, can I use my PS1/PS2 sticks with it if I get one of those controller adapters?

It does indeed- I saw it on Saturday. It looks a bit like a redesigned Naomi cab, and it's called something like Universal Lindbergh System (can't remember exactly), so presumably they can just swap out other games. The screen on it's pretty decent, and VF basically looked indistinguishable from the PS3 version.

This game's just far too good - Had some fun with Eileen yesterday and what a character - a sort of female lion using some kind of monkey kung-fu.

Absolutely brilliant it was - Think I managed a 16 win streak in dojo mode - I look forward to online sessions.
