I might get my ps2 out the loft at the weekend to see if there is any difference......or maybe im just expecting too much lol

Your expectations are not too much.

I've just managed to borrow back my old PS2 and the difference between playing it on the PS2 and on a PS3 with an LCD is phenomenal.

The game was very blocky and blurry in places on the PS3 and LCD combo. On the PS2 and a normal TV (so no progressive either) it looks far superior and a lot cleaner in terms of image quality.

Can't transfer the save from my PS3 to my PS2 but tbh it looks so much better I don't mind playing through it again to get back to the point I was. If only to see it how it was meant to be.

And so you should play it on CRT using a PS2. It looks even better (played the first half over LCD Component and 2nd half over CRT RGB myself). ;

Played it through plasma via component (50" and ps2) and it looks fine. I hope this thread wont be over shadowed with what it looks like rather than how great this game is.

one of the better starts to a game!

Having jst finished the rhodes level i was very very impressed

All this on a PS2??!??

lets hope the game stays at this very high level of polish all the way through

playing on a LCD via component doesn't look at all bad to me there is some tearing but it has not spoiled a fantastic game so far

broke my patience on several occasions thing is i feel they took the things i didnt like about the first game and said "hey lets do more of them and make it even more frustrating" in the first game i never had to to think to hard on what i had to do next......this i was tolling around some puzzles for about min

thankfully the game had so many amazing moments though

The puzzles, for the most part, have been fine for me.

It's the scenarios where your penned into a corner and it's a melee-tastic THEN just as you think you've done enough, the gits go and spawn again! Enough to make me cry sometimes.

Gotta disagree about the puzzles, I really enjoyed them and would have preferred them to be more elaborate, if owt. To be honest, it's them that I enjoy more and I can take or leave the combat. But then, I do just play through on easy as I suck.

I have literally just finished this.

Really enjoyed it, much better than the first one. The scale is amazing. It really is astonishing that this is on the PS2. If you upped the res to HD it wouldn't look out of place on the 360/ps3.
The only thing that lets it down in my opinion is the timed door lever pulling puzzles.

I'd definately give it 8/10 due to some annoyances, such as the timed doors, and some annoying jumps that were hard because of a crap camera angle.

did my freaking nut in.

i hated that puzzle not because it was especially hard in the grand scheme of games but it was just a rather random difficulty spike

i'm really enjoying the game and am trying to finish it this weekend

EDIT - finished. top game. i had a few niggles with it but generally it was an incredible experience. roll on god of war 3!!!
