My only complaint is that although there are some areas (like the one I've just done where I feel it's the best puzzle in this kind of game ever) that are exceptional, straight afterward they hit you with another frustrating area!! (Like the area immediately after the one I mentioned).

Such an amazing game though, can't stop!!!

Picked up a cheap PS2 yesterday to catch up on some of the games I'd missed (owned one up until a couple of years ago) including this. I have to say this is pretty damn amazing - hard to believe its running on a PS2 at times.

Always loved a good hack and slash and this is up there with the best

Edit: christ this is good. Completely unrestrained and over the top and just so epic in feel. Everything a good action game should be

Yeah, its pretty good, but not as good as I would have liked.

Music is amazing like the first game, probably one of the best overall soundtracks to a game ive ever played.

Gameplay is frantic, some fights are exhausting, and when you do manage to beat it, its a great sense of relief.

I'm not a massive fan of pressing specific buttons at certain times, within a time limit, but it does add to the urgency and excitement of some of the boss battles.

The bad parts are some of the cut scenes don't really stack up and are pretty poor quality wise, but I suppose this is the PS2. The camera is lacking sometimes, and there is some terrible screen tear in the PAL version.

Overall its a great button masher. The first game was such a suprise at the time on how good it was, it just seemed to come from nowhere. This was expected to be good from the outset, so I suppose it looses its wow factor in that respect.

So I finally got pissed off with this game today. I don't know if I'll go back to it to be honest either. I had a really good play session today and got (I think) quite near the end. The puzzles leading up to the
nearly made me smash my controller...then I got to them, and beat them, but the pay off? The ****ing endurance run?

Go **** yourselves, that is beyond a joke...I don't know if I'll play this again, which is a shame since I haven't played a game this much in ages.

It's not that hard tbh, there are health and magic chests halfway down and most of the enemies give off helath and magic if qte killed

It might be just one annoyance too far then, perhaps I'll give it a go another day.

The puzzle before the sisters, the spike puzzles (both of em) and a few others, it just got to me and I lost my temper, then when I finally got past the two bosses, and found an endurance run, well it just didn't sit well...it seems lazy, "Oh we need to extend the game, so lets just randomly chuck in an endurance run to piss the gamer off even more"...

I'd better money there'll be at least 2 more bosses before I get to

For the endurance run i just ended up using magic for it all cause i had them all fully upgraded. Atlas Quake over and over when its fully upgraded does crazy amounts of damage. Stick with it tho cause the Zeus fight is really cool.

I just got to the end of this, the final boss. Its the most frustrating time ive ever had in a game to date. Having to press a specific button within a split second in a long fight sequence. One mistake and you have to start from the beggining again.

Oof you're all putting me off getting this game with the latter stages horror stories! I have very little patience with games that punish one mistake with a total section restart. Is it a deal-breaker?

                      It might be...

During the tougher non-boss fights (large monsters etc) if you hit the wrong button (and if you have used a 360 a lot you will at first, X being the culprit) you take damage and have to damage the enemy a bit more again to enable the QTE.

The platforming is hindered purely by the bad camera angles, you can't move the camera so that get's irritating.

The most annoying thing in the game is the

                      slow-time down power

, now I don't know if it's the PS3 controller I'm using but hitting L1 and R1 together to activate it is very hit and miss, more often than not it just blocks (L1)...too many functions mapped to too many buttons in my opinion.

That bit got me too, took me a good 1/2 hour. Had to take a break a one point, before I threw my controller at telly.

It's funny how different parts annoy different people, I finally finished this today and I found the last two boss battles the easiest in the game, stupidly easy to be honest, yet the endurance run...well, I haven't played the game in a month because last time I just COULD.NOT.DO.IT....but today, 3rd try and did it no probs.

Probably one of the best action games I've ever played, felt a little cheated by the ending and as much as some people say the sequel is obvious (and from a financial point of view, of course it is) I don't see where the story is heading.

One thing on my mind though : How INSANE is the third one gonna be on the PS3...I can already hear myself saying "wow" over and over.

Wonderful game, let down by some overly frustrating parts...the bit at the start of the "sisters" area where you have to get the pillar to smash through the statue via slowing down time drove me insane and I spent the longest time there...why did they map the slow-down to L1 + R1, half the time it doesn't work.

Still, all I can think about is the next one...

Seems to me like it does on the PS2 too..

You know, reflecting on the completion of this game today I had a thought...I've played SO many games on the 360 but I don't recall finishing many of them...Dead Rising springs to mind but that was ages ago.

In this age where the achievement is king, God of War II was so refreshing in that I was playing it because it was an enjoyable, fun, engaging experienced. It offered me nothing in reward apart from a beautiful ending video, it offered me nothing in reward for completing a level/section but the pleasure of another level/section just as good...and yet...that was enough.

I'm an achievement addict but I think I may have kicked the habit! All thanks to this wonderful game. Sure, it has it's flaws but this is a stunner, and no mistake.

very few games like this anymore, ie you have to keep on playing it just because its so fun to see what happens next.

Roll on the PSP version as a tasty pre-ps3 snack .
