Halo 3 online mutiplayer beta.

I am not after GOW level of graphics inthe multiplayer mode, though if the single player mode isn't up to those standards I'll be less than impressed .
Its be nice to have a game that doesn't look like HALO II running in high def with a few more polygons thrown in for good meassure . If this was GRAW I wouldn't worrie too much , but to me HALO II in multiplayer lost little to the engine powering the single player mode , thats was worrying me, is that the single player will look this basic

Still whats the point, its HALO III and people just don't want to beleive the graphics aren't that great , Beta code or not .

At least the sound and watter effects are as good as ever

Should post some impressions.

Started it up, we get into first game - I'm like WTF is going on the framerate is piss. Moments later I dunno if it smoothed or I adjusted to it but that was gone.

Weapons ? NICE - Love the 3rd person view for the missile/grenade launcher and the turrets ! The sound off the AR is musical.

Physics ? Nice - Grenades rolling down hills, 3D Grass ( ) AND plants ( ) AND they're swaying in the wind ( ), bodies floating down the stream, THAT 3D water .

The grenades are about a million times better now - so much easier to gauge it's unbelievable.

Mongoose ? Awesome - from the engine sound to the handling it's all good.

Sound ? Fantastic - the distant gunfire is brilliant and the aural occlusion if you've got a rockface between you & the battle is the icing on that cake.

Enough - I love it. BUT I HAVEN'T FORGOTTEN YESTERDAY !!! You owe me a holiday you b**t***s...

That is true, I just think that games companies should not be aloud to promise things that they can't deliver
3d grass - nope
4xAA - no way
60fps - yes and looks great for it
Is one out of 3 enough when its an important one ?

I subsequently had to go take a pic on my phone to show the grass was there (see avatar).

It's in the Forza 2 demo FP thread - complaints that the grass wasn't 3D led to people questioning how 3D real grass is.

Yeah and there were plenty thats said all Sonic The Hedgehog demo was SA onthe DC in High Def . Now people should fire up both games and the gulf is massive , and people had a whale of a time pointing out how poor it was , Beta code or not.

Why can't people point out their concerns or views , with out being afraid of the lynch mob getting hold of them , by all means point out why people may think other people wrong over HALO III graphics . But lets have a end to this people can’t comment on the graphics bullsh8t , because that held little ice with regards to Sonic or with other games/demo's , why should it be any diff to HALO III

I have to say I find joining a forum just to say 4 times that you love Halo but hate the graphics a bit strange. If you had added some other comments on the beta then fair enough, but just to make that comment Must admit I thought you were TA in disguise until he appeared

Sorry Simmy but I didnt join the forum to slag off Halo. I joined the forum from a recommendation by a friend. I was told that it was good solid game chat here and no fanboyism (which plague most forums now-a-days), im thinking maybe he was wrong.....

As H3 is the big gaming news at the moment, thats why im commenting on it. I haven't played it enough to mention anything about the gameplay yet, I like to play a game for at least 10 hours before I comment on that (and im only half way there on that front!).

I agree, the graphics are nice solid and functional there are loads of games that look better, but it really doesn't bother me as for Halo it really is the gameplay that rocks. As has already been pointed out, this is only the multiplayer section of a game which have traditionally always looked worse than the single player (most games, not just Halo).

Hmm - well I'm struggling to even get into a game atm - all I've seen is the lobby so far ... I thought Halo was suppose to have a decent online system?

well if you are trying to take a party of 9 into a game into a ranked game that allows 4 people on each team then of course it isn't going to work.

Currently the playlists will allow a maximum of 4 in a single party for a ranked game and 8 if you are entering a training game (the party gets split into 2 teams of 4)

If someone is flashing they are still downloading the required files and either
1:have a duff connection
2:have a moderate or strict NAT status causing problems in that party
3:the beta nature of the beta has gone a bit well glitchy

I'm on open nat - just checked - I'm not trying to take a party anywhere, just using matching making. I'd put it down to it being a beta more than anything else - I just wanna join a game with some peeps on my friends list. Ah well.

I think Halo 3 looks way better. Think of it as Halo 2 + HD + Bump Mapping + HDR Lighting = Next Gen Halo!
