I think, from memory, the first itemm is yukino - a caddy. I am not interested in all honesty but will grab the course I think.

Bought it anyway, as I had a few Yen in credit on the store. It does just seem to add the extra character. For anybody wondering, buying it will activate the character for all your PS3 accounts, so there's no problem buying with a Japanese account and playing the game with your UK one.
While I'm here, can anybody explain how to do those shots where the ball homes in on the hole after it's landed (you get a flaming trail and it burns the ground as it goes)? I've seen it a few times, but I can't work out what triggers it. I've been playing around on the practice range with different spin types, perfect shots, trying the red/blue flame and whatnot and I just can't work out how to make it happen.

I bought it from the HK store, if anyone has a HK account. It is actually a little cheaper, and my JPN account had problems with the address I had registered.
The HK shop is in English, and confirms this is a character-add only. Works fine with the JPN version of the game too; the HK shop notes that the game and add-on are Japanese (reckon the JPN/Asian versions must be the same).

To do a power backspin, hold up on the dpad, start your swing, keep holding up during the backswing, choose your power, then quickly switch to down on the dpad during the downswing, then you just got to make sure you time your final button press for a sweet shot.
This is all reversed for topspin.
To my knowledge, I don't think a flaming spinning ball "homes" to the hole, it just spins forwards or backwards in an over the top fashion after landing.
I still haven't holed doing this, although it can help. There's a lot of things I haven't done in this yet and I'm up to tier 8 or 9.
Still not done a flag climbing shot or hole in oneLast edited by hudson; 06-03-2008, 12:04.

I get how to do the power spin, but I'm not sure what triggers the spinning along the ground. On the practice area, I couldn't get it to happen at all, despite doing 100% power, perfect shots. I'd get the character spinning round and the different trail colour, but it'd never move after it landed.
Doing the same in-game sometimes makes it happen, but not all the time, and I can't see a pattern to it.

As saif says it depends on how good your character stats are for spin (the blue bar is back/top spin and the purple is side spin) and you can aid this with the correct club & ball combo.
It's physics based aswell though. So you won't get the ball just stopping and ripping back if you're hitting to a high green and therefore with a lower trajectory.
There are three special shots which I think are only possible when a character is at MAX level (certainly above a basic level anyway). To get 'Homing' you have to hit the pin with a super backspin. If you hit the pin with super topspin you get 'Rising'. There's 'Spiral' aswell which is activated with any super side-spin.
Hope that all makes sense...
